Excellent hospitality. We were passing by Beaune, saw this little hotel in Michelin Guide and decided to give it a shot. It's located in a small village but it's restaurants is more than enough.
Lovely manor-style hotel on the edge of Gevrey-Chambertin including a courtyard with parking. We appreciated the look and feel of the place and the nice mix of old and new styles in the room, as well as flexible handling of changes of our plans (bike hire, breakfast). Dinner at the Bistrot Lucien was quite tasty, but a bit on the heavy side, which is the reason for four instead of five stars.
We had stayed at the hotel and it was a great experience. The restaurant was a very different story. 1. We waited for 15 mins before a wine list is provided. 2. Perhaps the restaurant was understaffed, but we have to ask for the wine to be moved to the table so we can pour ourselves. 3. Cheese plate was the highlight of the meal, meat was overcooked. We asked for names of the cheese, never provided. A great place to stay, not a good place to eat.
