The moment I stepped through the sleek glass doors of La Vela Hue, excitement flickered through me. Bright white walls, bursts of blue tile, and friendly reception staff told me I was somewhere purposefully fresh and very much alive. Inside my suite space stretched out, almost theatrically generous, every edge gleaming as if the cleaners had just departed. Morning light brazenly flooded the room, and I kept drifting back to the window, stunned by how the roofs and rivers of Hue swirled beneath me like a re-playable postcard. Then there was the rooftop pool, a shallow basin of glass that floats at the very top of the building. Bathing there at dawn brought misty silhouettes to sharp focus, but slipping in again at sunset, with the streets below pinned with tiny lanterns, felt like being wrapped in a mobile treasure. What sticks with me long after I checked out is the crew who looked after me. They moved through the day with real warmth, cracking jokes at the front desk and nudging me toward the best local spots without sounding rehearsed. A quick smile there, an extra towel here, and suddenly the place felt less like a hotel and more like a late-night chat with neighbors you want to hug goodbye. La Vela Hue Hotel nails that tricky blend of wow-factor and coziness; polished finishes sit side-by-side with staff who clearly love the city they call home. I packed up with a silly grin because, for a few blissful days, the room felt like a corner of my own living room dressed in silk curtains and perfect climate control. If your idea of a win is slipping into peace yet still hearing the pulse of Hue just outside the window, book it-Ill be trying to swipe the same dates next spring.

I stayed at this hotel shortly after they first opened in April 2023 and I still think about it all this time later. The breakfast buffet is out of this world and incredible value. The range and quality of foods is outstanding; it’s honestly reason enough to stay here (not to mention the sweet rooftop pool!). But they also provide impeccable and truly genuine service. I hope that I’ll have the privilege of staying here again some day.

We stayed here in February 2025 for a week and the hotel offered a great price. We had a spacious corner room with the Aeon Mall view and great sunlight. The hotel was nicely decorated, quiet and our room was comfortable and cozy. Our room featured a big soft bed, a big bathtub, a shower stall, a wardrobe and everything else that you could find in a 5-star-hotel. Our room price included a daily set-menu-dinner (or lunch, your choice) and we really really loved and enjoyed the food. The set menu was traditional and authentic Vietnamese cuisine that you could find in Hue or anywhere else in Vietnam. If you have any special request for your meal, don’t hesitate to ask the staffs, if it’s possible, they will try to do it for you. Xuân Nhi and Nguyên are the best staffs there, they are super friendly, helpful with a “can-do”attitude. One downside about the hotel was the location. The hotel was built on a newly developed zone so there was nothing much in walking distance. But the big Aeon Mall was just around 7-10mins walk from the hotel, you could eat, shop, play arcade games, watch movies and buy your necessities there. Or you could just get a taxi or rent a motorbike/scooter from the hotel (bike rental price was very reasonable) to go to the main entertainment area, which was just around 15mins ride from the hotel. Another downside was the buffet breakfast. On the contrary to the wonderful set-menu dinner that we had, the breakfast was a bit “lacking of choices” and “not so special”. The food was okay but we did expect more from a 5-star-hotel breakfast. So, if you prefer a nice and quiet hotel to relax in the evening like us (sightseeing in the daytime and rest at nighttime), Lavela is perfect for you, but if you enjoy street foods and nightlife, you will be a bit disappointed here. For us, if we visit Hue again in the future, we will definitely choose Lavela again.
