Had an amazing experience here. The attendants are very friendly, the security is well maintained. Food served here is top notch. Will be sure to visit another time. Greatly recommend the place.
Lake Bogoria Spa Resort: My (Not-So-Secret) Oasis Since 2004! Back in '04, I stumbled upon Lake Bogoria Spa Resort with a camping crew, and their naturally heated pool had me at "hello." I vowed to return. I have been back almost every year since, sometimes even three times! It's become our sacred ritual, our go-to sanctuary to simply unwind. Seriously, if staff retention is a sign of good management, then Lake Bogoria Spa Resort has figured out the right buttons to keep pressing. I can count on one hand the number of staff members who HAVEN'T been there for 15+ years. Talk about loyalty! Teenagers, Wi-Fi, and a Jungle Adventure (Surprisingly, They Loved It!) This month (July 2025), I bravely convinced my two teenagers that a "jungle" adventure was the perfect way to kick off their summer holidays. Their first question? "Is there Wi-Fi?" Bless. Thank goodness the resort has it, otherwise, let's just say this review would be a very different, much more dramatic story. What started as a planned two-night escape magically stretched into three and could have stayed on had it not been for other commitments. Our stay? Superb, as always. The rooms were spotless and spacious, and the options of the naturally heated pool and the refreshing cold pool were a lifesaver- for one of the teens who is always HOT. July in Bogoria can be surprisingly hot, even when the rest of Kenya is experiencing its "cold season." And the staff? They're like family. The constant "good mornings," "good days," and "good nights" made us feel right at home. The Unexpected Delights: From Front Office Angels to Jungle Gym Gains! While the entire experience was fantastic, three things truly blew us away: Irene, the Front Office Fairy Godmother: Making reservations can be a drag, but then I met Irene. Her phone presence alone radiated warmth and knowledge. She answered every single one of my questions about family packages with such grace, it felt like we were old friends before we even met! When I finally did meet her at check-in, the connection was instant. She made sure our check-in was seamless and constantly checked in on us throughout our stay. Irene, you are truly the shining face of the spa! The Jungle Gym (Yes, You Read That Right!): Turning 50 came with a promise: no more holiday slacking! Imagine my delight (and slight disbelief) when I discovered a well-equipped gym in this wonderfully remote location. Emanuel, the gym instructor, is a wizard. I learned, corrected, and perfected moves I didn't even know existed. Who knew you could get your pump on in the heart of Kenya's Rift Valley? The All-Terrain Hot Spring Express: The 18km road to the Lake Bogoria hot springs is, shall we say, "character-building" if your car isn't built for off-roading. So, when we saw the resort had an overland vehicle for rent, we jumped on it! Best decision ever. Our driver, Langat, was a very experienced, skillfully navigating the terrain while prioritizing our safety. We could actually enjoy the scenery instead of white-knuckling it! A huge thank you to John at F&B. With his impressive 30 years at the resort, he's basically a living legend! He's got a hell of a lot of stories, from the miraculous benefits of their herbal broth to those hilariously challenging tales of dealing with teenagers (he clearly understands my pain). And of course, we also thank all the unseen heroes who tirelessly work behind the scenes to make Lake Bogoria Spa Resort a truly unforgettable experience. Lastly, a massive thank you to Philip and Lydia. Your leadership has continually shaped this resort into the incredible oasis it is today, ensuring every visit is as perfect as the last. Adios for now, but trust me, we'll be back – probably sooner rather than later!
The place is beautifull and has more potential than it lives up to. A lot of minor details show the erosion this place is suffering and which would need immediate attention. Starting from the poor quality of the roads, continuing with the state of aircons, ending with the drains of the showers. However, the staff are wonderful and more than willing to help you with any issue you might have. The setting is beautiful but groups of young people partying around the pools with too loud music, disencourage the individual from taking a swim. My advice, if you want to sleep through a quiet night, don't go there on a Saturday. Lots of animals make the place animated and exciting. The food is completely ok and comes in large quantities. The detail that we found particularly annoying, is the fact that the kitchen window opens to the dining area and therefore, in addition to the ever present TV, you are also constantly bombarded by noise from the kitchen. That kills any romantic dinner, as I can state from experience. Nonetheless, we enjoyed our stay there after the first almost sleepless night also because of the extremely nice, friendly, and helpful staff. We will come again.
