Landgoed Zonheuvel

Stayed here for a conference. Nice walks possible in the surrounding forest and natural areas. The restaurant is fine, but on the expensive end. Lunches are well-done and have good variation during meetings and conferences. The coffee and tea arrangements are rich, but indeed this has a price. They claim to be very sustainable, but I noted quite some packaging for snacks, single use cups for coffee breaks, etc. The energy use is likely high, because these are old buildings.

great location in the woods and quiet surroundings - very good breakfast - we had one of the smaller bedrooms - it was to small - you can not walk around the bed you walk directly into the bathroom, there is hardly room for your suitcase or clothes- its under the roof, so if you want some fresh air - you open the window and and door to the room. But its fine if you spend your time exploring the surroundings for example on bike or hiking.

Don’t get all excited about the castle pictures, you’re not sleeping in the castle tower, princess! The hotel is a fine 1970s structure with basic rooms and good service. The staff isn’t the friendliest bunch around but this is fairly standard in the Netherlands. Good service without a smile (who has time for that…) Cheap rooms are single rooms which are - as expected- tiny but clean. Forrest surroundings are great.
