Lanzerac Hotel

Despite my first experience at Lanzerac Deli not being great (they were extremely busy that day and due to our seating location outside we were neglected, they also ran out of scones so waiting times were long), I have revisited the deli multiple times since then and came back here to improve my rating of them. The scones really are legendary, the views pristine, and the staff treatment of guests above average. The food besides their scones is excellent quality, and a little stroll around the premises after lunch is always a pleasant way to end the visit. Well done Lanzerac.

Lanzerac wine estate hosted my father’s 80th birthday in the Tap Room. The venue and room is beautiful, the service was the best we have ever experienced. We were a group of 21 people and the team that served us was amazing. The food was excellent. The staff went out of their way to make the day special and the pianist created a wonderful atmosphere. Thank you to every staff member that made this day extra special.

Disappointing Experience at Lanzerac – Not Worth the Price We had high expectations for Lanzerac and were excited to dine at their restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience was a huge letdown. For the premium prices they charge, we expected top-quality food and service—what we got was far from it. One of our friends ordered a T-bone steak medium, and it came out completely overcooked. It was so bad that he had to send it back, which I’ve never seen happen at a supposedly high-end establishment. I had a Wagyu burger, expecting something exceptional, but it was underwhelming. I asked for medium rare, and it came out basically raw. I’m not a picky eater, so I just ate it, but it was nowhere near what I ordered and tasted average at best. For a bill of R750 – R1500 per person, we were expecting an outstanding meal, but it was nothing special. The food quality simply didn’t match the price tag. We were a big group, and not a single person felt like they got their money’s worth. Safe to say, we won’t be going back. There are far better places in the Cape Winelands that actually justify their prices with great food and service—Lanzerac is not one of them.
