Spilled a drink and got one for free Service is really nice and polite 10/10 experience! Ps: order the lava cake you will love it (don't eat it if your already full) Edit: I was there with my baby cousin and we ordered chicken wings (dragon wings) and the waiter dropped one. He was very polite about it and came bag with a little bow and 2 extra wings. 10/10 employees

This hotel is simply fantastic on every level and in every respect. Rooms, facilities, service … all faultless and staff are friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Only a 20 min bus ride to Salzburg centre so a perfect balance of city break and wellness break. We will be back.

Our stay at Hotel Lachenskyhof was pure perfection from start to finish. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warmth and grace. A cheerful young Fräulein greeted us at check-in, informed us of all the amenities available, and even handed us perfectly sized robes for our two children—ours were already waiting in our room. After the formalities, she invited us to relax in the lounge with complimentary drinks: a glass of fine Austrian wine for me, a crisp local beer for my husband, and a selection of juices for the kids. This thoughtful gesture set the tone for what would become one of the most memorable stays we’ve ever had. We stayed in a spacious apartment located in the charming Lindenallee Cottage, a picturesque side building adjacent to a serene swimming pond. The cottage was beautifully decorated, immaculately maintained, and offered sweeping, nearly unobstructed views of the majestic Untersberg. It felt like a dream. After a restful night in the incredibly comfortable beds, we were treated to our first Lachenskyhof breakfast—an experience in itself. Included with our stay, the breakfast buffet spanned two rooms and was nothing short of jaw-dropping. There were countless options: a variety of juices and coffees, traditional meats, cheeses, spreads, dozens of breads and pastries, freshly shaved ham, Weißwurst, eggs, bacon, homemade jams and jellies, and even honey served straight from the honeycomb. The breakfast was served in a beautifully decorated restaurant that flows seamlessly from room to room and out onto a garden patio. The garden itself is a thoughtfully landscaped haven, complete with an expansive playground for children. While our kids were a bit too old to enjoy it, I found it to be a brilliant touch—allowing parents to relax while little ones play safely nearby. The service at Lachenskyhof is what truly sets it apart. The entire hotel is family-run, and it shows. A small army of smiling staff in traditional dirndl and lederhosen ensured every detail was attended to. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to love what they do. One heartwarming detail: a special table in the restaurant is reserved for local friends of the hotel. Each evening, we’d see them enjoying dinner together, adding to the authentic and communal atmosphere. Speaking of dinner—each meal was as exceptional as breakfast, perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The hotel’s spa and pool area is equally impressive. The indoor/outdoor pool is clean and inviting, surrounded by well-maintained loungers. Warm towels are stacked on heated shelves, and guests have complimentary access to several saunas. There’s always free tea, water, and fresh apples available for a refreshing touch. Animal lovers will be delighted to know the hotel is dog-friendly, and a charming orange tabby cat roams the grounds, purring and greeting guests as if it were part of the staff. For adult guests, there’s even a textile-optional area for quiet, child-free relaxation—though we didn’t visit, it’s thoughtful that the hotel caters to all types of travelers. Another standout convenience: since the hotel is located just a few kilometers outside of Salzburg, and parking in the city is both scarce and pricey, Lachenskyhof provides guests with free bus passes. Prefer biking? They offer complimentary bike rentals too. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer. As we checked out, the kind Fräulein bid us a warm auf Wiedersehen and handed me a tiny jar of homemade Lachenskyhof jam to take home. I found myself tearing up—already dreaming of our return to this magical slice of Austrian paradise.
