Just returned home from a three night break here. Booked 2 of the cottages really enjoyed our time there. The accommodation was brilliant, lovely and homely, well equipped with everything you need. Lovely homemade cake, tea, coffee and sugar on your arrival, beds ready made up with fresh linen. Beautiful views, fantastic location. Sally and family are lovely, nothing too much trouble, on hand if you need them for anything. Highly recommend to everyone. Thankyou for a brilliant stay.

Had a lovely weekend at the cottage, very spacious, farm owners were very friendly, nice to see all the animals, well located to use the pennaston trail, which was a lovely bike ride, poor weather on the 2nd day but meadowhall shopping centre in Sheffield was only 20 mins away. All in all a nice weekend.

3 night stay, 32 year old couple with a husky. We used the cottage as a base & were out from around 10am - 4pm then 6pm - 8pm every day. Pros: great location, lovely views, easy access to loads of great walks with Langsett Reservoir just a stones throw away. Small but function-able 1 bed cottage on a complex of 3 rental cottages on a farm. Cons: unfortunately our stay was tainted for a few reasons. Firstly, when we checked in (at 6pm and the check in time is down as 2-10pm) we were greeted with the owner in a massive rush to get to work saying ‘I’ve got to get to work. Here’s the cottage here’s the keys.’ We brushed it off; she was obviously in a rush, not to worry, there were some lovely home made fairy buns for us in a tin alongside some tea & coffee which was a great touch. The big issue is the fact 2 cottages have a small communal terrace. The owner knocked on our door & said the neighbour had complained about our dog being out on the terrace which stopped them being able to leave the house… he would only have been out there with the back door open & us in the lounge right next to him so we were very easily accessible. There was also apparently a poo on the terrace which we hadn’t spotted before we left for the day which is obviously completely unacceptable & (if true - he hasn’t used this area as a toilet before) we’re deeply embarrassed & accept that responsibility in full. It was surprising however to be told by the owner to ‘only use the front door’ therefore excluding us from the use of the communal terrace. She also said she was ‘trying to keep the peace’ which shocked us - we didn’t realise there was any peace to be kept?! I spoke to the neighbours directly as - who goes third hand when you have an issue… - and it turns out they have a long haired chihuahua & 2 cats inside their rental so they were nervous about opening the door incase our dog went running into their house… when you have small animals I can understand and whilst I wish they’d have spoken to us directly it was good to clear the air & come to a mutual understanding. This could have been a lovely positive review but we felt this ‘complaint’ was handled very poorly & left us feeling deflated & unwelcome. There should be a policy in place regarding pets in these cottages to avoid such issues reoccurring. Please also note the cottage is a little dated - there is limited kitchen equipment & the shower is a wet room & has very little pressure. The power switch is also temperamental.
