Had a great visit. Food was excellent and very good service especially Monique at reception. Room was very cozy! Unique and authentic experience with lovely staff. There aren’t as many activities as advertised but we visited during their slower season. Definitely enjoyed hiking all the beautiful trails near the river.
Probably the most beautiful stay of our trip. The reception was very friendly, even when we booked the horse riding. The room was large, comfortable and very clean. The house, in which we unfortunately only slept for two nights, is, like all the houses here, a little out of the way with lots of nature around it. Everything is quiet and relaxing. The wooden bridge in front of the house leads to a small waterfall. The food is a little more expensive, but it is really very good. It is definitely star quality. We will definitely come back here...someday.
1. Room wasn’t well serviced. No toilet paper and tv did not work - not really what you expect for a 4 star. Also you can hear everything upstairs including toilet and bed movements. 2. Some of the staff were not very nice to you - in particular if you cannot speak Canadian French. I can understand French but prefer to speak English and I was saddened to hear some of the French comments made about us assuming I could not understand. One waiter was down right rude because we didn’t understand the menu and needed more time. It’s catered for Canadian French speaking clients. Waiting 5 hours in reception after asking 3 times if our room could be prioritised (we did not have a vehicle coming from Australia) each time not even checking just dismissing our plea. 3. Our room was over 1KM away from the only hospitality (food reception etc) which meant for a long walk for anything. In the end with the service at the restaurant being so poor we didn’t even go to dinner anymore. In summary this is not tailored to tourists who cannot communicate. To be honest we felt like rubbish and I actually started speaking French which unfortunately meant my partner did not understand. On the way out we received an extended apology from the manager Monique and also mentioned that there was actually a translated English menu which was never offered. Monique was very empathetic and I appreciated that but I would not recommend anyone from Australia going here unless they are fluent in Canadien French. Note that the dialect is different to French so be conscious of that before you book. Also not that if you have no vehicle you are stuck there. There is no water in the rooms / two coffee pods and no replacements for the whole stay. The location and scenery is beautiful but I would not go back. The horse and carriage was a let down because again while Sebastian was lovely we could not understand anything he was telling us about the locations We were glad to leave 🙂
