Le Choiseul

Gorgeous hotel with all the charm of yesteryear but many of the important amenities you’d expect from a 5-star (only drawback is no AC and the TV only plays one English speaking channel… not a dealbreaker for us as we watched movies late at night on our laptop). 5 min walk from the main street and from the entrance of the castle (you can see the hotel from the top of the Castle). We had the most beautiful room with our own private terrace (too bad it rained everyday and was colder than usual). Fantastic restaurant for dinner (it’s a little pricey but so worth it). I know they have massive renovations planned that will require them to shut down 18 months. Staff was incredibly courteous and did their best to accommodate any request day or night.

Wonderful staff running a quaint older hotel right on the Loire. Beds were so comfortable! The room was spacious and had everything we needed, even a mini fridge. The breakfast was delicious, so much surety, and in a wonderful sun-filled dining room. Loved everything about our 3-night stay. Merci beaucoup!

This four start hotel is really awesome, the rooms are really comfortable and the staff is really helpful. it is not cheap, but still a great stay. The problem for us was the restaurant! It is marketed as one of the top restaurants in the area with full linen service, lovely China, glasses and cutlery. But in my opinion, the food falls really short. We got the evening menu and have to say we were very underwhelmed. The menu has only two options per course, not a deal-breaker in it self, but the quality of the meal was lacking. One person from our party had cellophane and other foreign objects in their main and the replacement was undercooked. Still charged full price! The dessert was not as advertised and although tasty enough, not what we ordered. In all, 5* for the hotel, at most 3* for the restaurant. Really disappointed on an evening we were trying to make into a special occasion in a €€€€ restaurant.
