Le Clos Saint Martin Hôtel & Spa

What a delightful hotel/retreat. We booked as a couple in our first visit to Ile de Rey. Somehow we had double booked but that was not an issue and the reception cancelled one of the bookings and transferred the deposit to the other without any fuss. The hotel had arranged a transfer from the Gare at La Rochelle which worked out great. The staff are genuinely friendly and efficient. We felt very welcome. The rooms are immaculate with excellent quality furniture and fittings. The beds and bedding are very comfortable. Breakfast provided a wide range of food and drinks to cater for all tastes. Even oysters on Saturday morning! The pools (there are two) are clean and the sunbeds comfortable. We didn't eat at the hotel in evening as there is a limited menu and there are so many restaurants at the port and in town it seemed more natural to dine out. I don't think providing meals is that important for the hotel. The lunch menu was very limited. There is a spa which we made use of. Very cold plunge bath, jacuzzi and steamroom/hammam. Bike hire from the hotel is very easy. I would definitely recommend staying at Le Clos Saint-Martin.

I had the opportunity to visit the Clarins Spa and have a « Bord de Mer » massage. The spa is very relaxing, well designed and with luxury amenities. The massage itself was very professional, in a very quiet and peaceful environment. I strongly recommend it to anyone.

Absolutely incredible stay from start to finish. We are so happy to have found this little gem of a hotel. We did so much research into the best luxury hotel in Il de Ré and this had lived up to our expectations and more. The location is also perfect - a short 5 minute walk to the main port tucked away. The staff here are so lovely, each and every one of them goes above and beyond, really making our stay memorable. The brunch is phenomenal, we would wake up looking forward to it every day. I don’t have a single complaint about this hotel. We can’t wait to come back and thank you to all the lovely staff for making our trip so memorable. The spa is an added bonus - the hotel gives each guest daily use of its facilities which add a further hint of luxury to the stay. I will be recommending Le Clos Saint Martin to all my friends and family - a 5* experience.
