Overall Le Grand Aigle is a fantastic place to stay for your holiday in Serre Chevalier. Key things: Location You can ski in and out. Literally 50 steps from the boot room to the enìd of the car park where you join the snow down to the Pontillas lift. From here you can get up into the mountains and continue your day across the valleys without having to come down again unless you choose to do so. Additionally the town, for restaurants, shops, patisseries and rental equipment is about 15 minutes walk max each way. Can't beat it. Hotel The only downside is the bathrooms are tight on space. As a taller user it is a squeeze, but in reality not out of the ordinary for mountain accommodation, and certainly not something to put me off returning to this hotel. Food Breakfast is great, everything you'd want or even expect is there and really is tasty. Staff Lovely. Friendly and couldn't be more accommodating. Happy to help make reservations in restaurants, give ideas and recommendations etc... great. Overall I'd thoroughly recommend staying here

This hotel offers a truly fantastic ski-in/ski-out experience. The location is unbeatable, just a short 100m stroll to the cable car, making access to the slopes incredibly easy. After a day on the mountain, skiing right back to the hotel is a real treat. The hotel itself boasts a lovely menu with delicious options, perfect for refueling after a day in the snow. We also appreciated the cosy bar, a great spot for après-ski drinks and relaxation. Our room was well-appointed and a good size, providing ample space for our luggage and gear. However, we did hear from friends that their rooms were on the smaller side, so it's worth considering room size when booking. The dedicated ski boot area, complete with drying and warming facilities, was a huge plus and made getting ready for the slopes a breeze. While we didn't get a chance to experience the spa (it was fully booked throughout our stay – book early if you plan to use it!), we did encounter one significant issue: we ran out of hot water around 5pm. This meant we couldn't shower immediately after skiing, which was definitely inconvenient. Hopefully, this is something the hotel can address as it did put a slight damper on an otherwise excellent stay. Despite the hot water issue, the overall experience was very positive. The prime location, delicious food, cosy bar, and convenient ski facilities make this hotel a great choice for a ski holiday. Just be sure to book your spa treatments in advance and be prepared for potential hot water limitations in the late afternoon.

The rooms are quite tiny yet that’s not a big issue. WiFi is super slow, reminded me time when I used dialup modem for internet. I could not imagine there are places with such a slow internet. Bring you data card, buy one if you’re outside of EU as this WiFi is not usable. Breakfast - that was shocking. Not a single vegetable - none, no cucumbers no tomatoes no salad - nothing of that sort. I’ve never seen breakfast that would not offer a single vegetable - that’s insane. And it only starts at 7:45 - why so late? Some people like to get up earlier and go for a walk etc. Cannot do it here. I’m very upset with such terrible setup for the breakfast. Absolutely terrible! People are going to the shop and brining their own vegetables to the breakfast- how pathetic is that???
