We had a wonderful stay here, and I want to especially thank Matt for his warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, he greeted us enthusiastically and even upgraded our room to the Premium Cabana Terrace. He took the time to recommend great local food and attractions, and thoughtfully reminded us that the waves were too strong for safe swimming. What impressed me most was his care even at check-out – Matt personally helped call our next hotel to ensure our room was ready before we arrived. This level of service is rare and truly appreciated. The hotel itself feels relaxing, comfortable, and beautifully designed. The spacious layout, comfortable bed, and the stunning view of the endless ocean waves made our stay very enjoyable. If I had to point out one minor thing, it would be that the resort isn’t very large. But with Matt’s 100% excellent service, we will definitely come back again. Highly recommended! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Room was very family friendly. We stayed for 3 nights after coming back from a longer stay on one of the islands (Yao Yai). We wanted to be close to the airport & see some local sights in Phuket - which the hotel is well located for. Friendly staff. Breakfast good. Restaurants for lunch and dinner - average - but a lovely bar. Matt at the front desk was extremely helpful in arranging us a taxi and advice on where to go. The pools & the small slides were great for our two children (aged 7 and 5). Negatives: I gave location 3 stars because of the unsustainable amount of trash on the beach - admittedly not the hotel’s fault - as they can’t control what’s washed up by the ocean - but the plastic trash on the beach was shocking. Tourists will stop visiting Mai Khao if this isn’t resolved with some sort of collective action from all hotel owners in the region - as I can only see it worsening in the future. My family & I did not want to sit on the beach because of this - not because it was rainy season. Apart from this one issue, the hotel was lovely - I loved the tropical feel of the grounds (the trees and plants) blended with the modern architecture. I liked the cafe / restaurant next to the lobby. My kids loved the Kids Club.
Never seen such a dirty pool!! See picture. Debris floating throughout the pool. And debris settled at the bottom of the pool. My kids were not having fun. Actually saw another guest collecting debris to clean it up. Disappointing for a five star hotel. Review of the rest of the experience: Good: kids club, staff friendliness, kid centric room. Poor: Breakfast food quality (eggs were weird, french toast tasteless. Thai food was nice though) Overall, I could excuse the rest, but the pool is unacceptable. Clean it up.
