Le Meridien Suzhou Bay is a world-class hotel with quaint, but beautiful features. The rooms, just like the grounds, aren't exactly spacious, but they aren't claustrophobic, either. The hotel has complementary bikes for exploring the lake and the grounds are surrounded by parks, so there are plenty of places to poke around. The hotel is definitely comfortable and, because I spend most of my time experiencing Suzhou city, I don't have any qualms about the hotel, except for two minor ones. First, the west-facing rooms, which look out over the lake, get warm at sunset. Secondly, there's the pool. I like trying out the pools at different hotels but this indoor pool wreaked of chlorine so I gave it a hard pass.

Check in was rather efficient; I was informed when I arrived at 4pm that my upgrade options were to a lake view room on a regular floor or a city view room on the club floor close to the lounge, I took the former. Standard suites at this property don't have lake views either. While the hard product was great, I can't quite say the same about F&B offerings. Happy hour in the club lounge was mostly greasy carbs and not hors d'oeuvres, but the liquor selection was decent. Would be nice if they offered paid a la carte offerings from the restaurant downstairs served in the lounge like the LRM in Shanghai, especially given the remote location. The mangos served on the second day were great. I don't know why that is, but it seems that both this Le Meridien and the one in Yixing I visited the month before have some sort of misunderstanding about moisturizer, I received a tube of moisturizer instead of body wash in the shower. Breakfast was very crowded- and the offerings seem more geared to Chinese tastes. Which is fine given that their guests tend to be local, but some decent cold cuts or crisp bacon would be nice.

Located at the lake bay where lacks public transportation but has a nice view. Guest room is quite large with good equipment and lake view from room is great. Check in and check out speed was a bit slow.
