Le Médina Essaouira Thalassa Sea & Spa MGallery Collection

We truly enjoyed the beautiful location and comfortable rooms at Le Médina Essaouira Thalassa Sea & Spa – MGallery Collection. The staff was generally friendly and helpful, which made our stay pleasant. However, we were disappointed with the so-called "private beach". When we arrived, there were no sunbeds available, and the beach was crowded with people who were clearly not hotel guests. After calling reception, sunbeds were brought out – which we appreciated – but it was clear that there was very little supervision or control over who was using the space. At one point, a group of young people started playing football, and a ball was thrown toward guests who were quietly sunbathing. No staff intervened, even though the situation was clearly disturbing. Additionally, our order at the beach was taken by a security guard, at the request of someone who appeared to be a manager (wearing a different uniform). We found this to be unusual and not up to the standards of a five-star hotel. This hotel has a lot of potential, but the organization and service on the beach need improvement in order to deliver the high-quality experience that guests expect.

Really a nice location and the personnel is kind. I essence I'd give this hotel 5 stars, but they forgot to mention, that they're renovating the hotel, hence been staying in severe construction noise. Something I would have liked mention on a 2000 Durham per night hotel. [UPDATE] I mentioned the experience and the hotel have been very accommodating and gave us free lunch. Very nice personnel and definitely not their fault.

This hotel is ideally located on the beach and near the Medina. It is undergoing a lot of renovation of the pool area so that was not open. The staff were friendly but there were a few awkward moments with some difficulty charging incidentals to the room. The bedrooms were comfortable but quite old fashioned and would benefit from updating - especially the bathrooms. My biggest issue was the breakfast on both day' of our stay. The buffet is standard for an international hotel. Omelettes made to order etc but while there were a lot of staff around they were hopeless at making sure the basics of bowls, plates and spoons were available. We were left disappointed and had much better and more memorable stays elsewhere on our tour of Morocco.
