Le Méridien Shanghai Minhang

Hotel is very modern, with contemporary design and large rooms. All facilities you can wish for are available. The only point to improve was the insulation quality of the glass (not soundproof), so next to the road you can hear traffic. Otherwise it's recommendable for sure.

Location close to Hongqiao airport which is convenient. Rooms are Excellent value for money with lots of features. Most staff are very young and lack English skills and proper hotel training. Cleanliness not on international standard, club floor offering cantine style.

The overall rating is 3, an average of 5 for location and facilities and 1 for customer service. The hotel is brand new and beautifully designed and appointed. It is located in a great area with both new restaurants and malls and also just a 10 min walk to Qibao Ancient Town. If you are on a layover at SHA airport, this is a great hotel to stay at as you can see 2-5 story Shanghai as opposed to the glitzy 30-50 story towers of the business district. Where it needs immediate improvement is staff training. There were 5 people in front of me at check in and 6 people at the front desk, but it took over 25 minutes to complete check in. No apologies, no acknowledgement... A lot of standing around, staring at a computer and chatting with other staff who are doing nothing. Haven't had that experience with completely inept staff in what is supposed to be a 5-start hotel ever.
