I loved this place. Our room was a larger one on the fifth floor, far enough away if the evening music was too loud. My wife and I stayed at a much higher end hotel in Paris four years ago and we liked La Pigalle much more. It’s more relaxed and the room felt like the comfort of a European apartment. This is not really a place for family vacationing. It’s for adults traveling without kids. If you’re younger (or not), into the night life and a party atmosphere, this part of town is ideal. We were not seeking the night life, but the night life didn’t take away from our experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The Metro is also a few steps out the front door, giving you quick access to any area you wish to visit in Paris. For a reasonable price we had a pot of coffee and two espressos brought to our room extremely quickly each morning that you order using a bedside tablet (as well as any food you desire using room service). We are grateful for the experience!
Currently staying at this hotel and not too thrilled about it. It's in a nice location and the reception staff is friendly, but there is a live DJ event going in the hotel lobby right below our room, and we can definitely hear it even with ear plugs. I mentioned at check in that we wanted a quiet room and they told me they were fully booked. Mind you, the sign outside says "rooms available". The room is alright with some funky decoration trying to match the neighborhood vibe, but if you prioritize sleep over looks, I recommend you stay elsewhere.
The hotel feels really dated and worn. It opened 10 years ago and everything feels a decade old - the concept, decor, beds, everything. Basic things are missing that are needed for a great stay, such as comfortable beds (the beds are wretched!), coffee in the room, a place to sit in the room (we were supposedly in a larger room, but just had an uncomfortable wooden bench), a decent TV (the TV was OLD and didn’t allow for Chromecast!), etc. The room was dirty, bathroom was filthy (hairs on the floor) and whole place is worn out. It just wasn’t a nice place to be and wasn’t somewhere to relax or enjoy. The records and turntable are a waste of space and the tablet is ancient and silly. The room next to us set out their room service tray in the hall one night. Their dirty dishes and half eaten food sat on the floor in the hallway ALL night and ALL day and nobody from the hotel picked it up. This was despite the cleaning team being on the floor and having their equipment right next to the tray. Still, they just left it. Gross! The concept just isn’t cool anymore. I Feels all kind of cringe and sad. They are using the “cool” concept as a mask for really poor customer service and a weak offering. The service at breakfast was abysmal. They acted like they were annoyed to have guests! Overall, feels like a hostel but with a much heftier price tag. The location is great!
