We wanted a hotel right on the mainland beyond Mont St. Michel, and Le Relais du Roy was great. Wonderful service and help getting a dinner reservation at a local restaurant in walking distance. Breakfast was good. The room was a bit dated but clean and just fine.
The hotel has 3 stars but deserves 5, above all wonderful people at the reception, very nice and friendship. Although we ordered the cheapest room only for one night, we got an upgrade with a view On the river which allowed us to buy breakfast and save money. The rooms are not new but very clean, the bathroom and shower are also 40 years old, but everything is super clean and works.Very comfortable mattress, warm water and again ... pleasant atmosphere. Hotel i quiet, located in a beautiful place. Thank you very much and we will come back and we will definitely recommend you.
This whole area is all very touristy, of course. You have to pay 10€/24h to even get into the compound. On the good side the hotel is within walking distance of St. Michel, which we did with great pleasure. The restaurant seems to be closed permanently since covid for lack of personnel— like so many restaurants everywhere. But there are other restaurants in the vicinity, like “La Salicorne” where we had a great burger. But the worst was the horrible smell in the room. I can only describe it as “wet dog” if you know what I mean. We left the balcony door wide open all night but it didn’t go away. It really got to me and I could not have stayed another minute in this room. This is why I only give 2 stars for the room. Everything else was ok but that stench! Guests are allowed to bring pets (dogs) and I can only assume that this is the source of that smell. Breakfast was a disappointment. Don’t book it. Zero atmosphere. Cold. Hard chairs. More like a school cafeteria. We were amongst the first people in at 7:15 am so we had “the full selection “ of breakfast items but there was mo restocking once something ran out. And things do. The baguette 🥖 was old and needed toasting. There was one good fresh bread with cranberries but it was gone quickly. The hot water for the tea tasted like coffee because it came from the same machine. I could boil an egg. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.
