We visited Lebanon from the UK after a very long wait and decided to stay at Le Royal. We loved every minute of it, mainly due to the friendliness of the staff and some great facilities. We would like to mention Angy and Elissa in particular, who both made us feel at home and showed a great deal of professionalism and were super helpful throughout our stay. Whilst the hotel could do with some refurb as the interior looks a bit dated, the main facilities such as the spa, the pool and the gym are still in great shape. If you are a tennis lover like me, you have access to an outdoor court at the hotel (and an indoor court at st Rita, a 2-minute drive down the hill). We will definitely come back soon.
We booked the Superior Room, 1 Queen Bed. We were so excited because the room has a private pation and pool. When we got there, we had the worst experience. First, the room smelled horrible. The furniture were all dirty you don’t even feel you want to sit on the chairs or the couch. The private pool was very shallow. It was half way filled. There were all bugs in it and the bottom was covered with sand. It seems like they haven’t maintained the area in such a long time. We asked to change the room. But, the second room we saw had rhe same smell. Then, we were offered a third room. It smelled like it was sprayed with purfume. We asked to cancel the stay but they only agreed to refund the second night. Even though, we paid $310 for the first night, we did not stay. We preferred to take the loss rather than staying in this hotel. It is rated as a 5 star hotel, but it really should be a 1 star.
I had high expectations when booking Le Royal Hotel Beirut, especially after paying $248 for one night, thinking we’d have a peaceful and luxurious stay after our wedding. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From 8:00 AM, we were woken up by constant banging and drilling coming from the room next door. It was clear that maintenance or construction work was being done right next to us—on a Sunday morning no less! We immediately called reception to complain, and while they stopped the noise temporarily, it resumed again an hour later, ruining any chance of rest. I didn’t get to enjoy the stay, and definitely didn’t get the sleep I desperately needed. When we spoke with the manager, instead of offering a refund or something meaningful, they offered us to stay until 7 PM. That’s not helpful when I live in Beirut and don’t need a few extra hours—I needed a quiet, restful night, not a day extension in a room that had already been disturbed. It’s unacceptable to charge premium prices and subject guests to construction noise without any prior warning. The staff’s response was lackluster and did not reflect the level of service expected from a so-called five-star hotel. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for peace, professionalism, or proper hospitality. If you care about your sleep, your comfort, or getting value for your money—look elsewhere.
