Legendary Hotel Sovietsky

I really liked this historic hotel together with the Yar restaurant. The rooms have with high ceilings and have kept their Soviet design. The hallways are also somptuos and it feels like you're inside an opera house or a museum.

Like going back in time, how the rich lived. Great place, good staff and the room was fantastic.... Massive!! 3 rooms, hall way, and 2 bathrooms. Great architecture, sweeping stairs, great ballroom to eat dinner in. But not full of new tech, like being in a 1940s hotel, but just great. Will visit again.

Advantages: The room is large and hotel has a long history. However, the room is relatively shabby and the curtains are falling off. The service is the worst among the six or seven hotels I have stayed in Russia this time. I can't describe it as indifferent, the staff are very agressive. The concierge named Andrey interrupted me before I opened my mouth to speak. He shouted "reception reception" and told me not to disturb him. It was a simple question I was trying to ask, I wanted to know where the restaurant is. I insisted on finishing asking the question and he kept repeating "reception" loudly and refused to answer. The guy in front desk is very rude when I checked in. He asked for my evisa, I sent him an email like what I did in all other hotels and he told me "look, you sent me a screenshot this is not what I asked for". The restaurant staff is nice though. And when I checked out a gentleman with glasses is quite nice. Stay here if all you're looking for is a room and don't mind staff yelling at you. The room was okay.
