I indicated it was our 30th anniversary trip on the reservation. We were pleasantly surprised to see a "Congratulations" plate in our room at check in. It was a welcome surprise! Thank you for making our stay in Galway so memorable! The hotel is centrally located at the heart of the Latin Quarter. Walking distance to many great shops, restaurants and bars. Totally recommend!
We booked a “spacious” double room at this hotel. We also asked for an accessible room because my wife is disabled and unable to walk. We phoned a week before arrival to confirm the arrangements. When we arrived we were shown to an accessible room which was so small that my wife couldn’t manoeuvre her wheelchair around it. We were told that all accessible rooms were the same size. We asked to move to a spacious room (with a walk in shower) and were given a 20% discount which we used to buy a shower chair and a raised toilet seat with grab rails from a shop specialising in these items (on the other side of Galway). This worked well and my wife could manage. The staff at the hotel were fantastic: helpful, supportive, kind and understanding. The location by the river is magnificent and sumptuous evening walks were within a minute of the hotel exit. The breakfast was wonderful and the food available in the evening was beautiful. I recommend this hotel 99% but my only caveats are 1)if you book an accessible room, prepare to be in a tiny room and 2) get your parking ticket validated at reception to save money - I wasn’t told I could do this until the last day. Nevertheless, Galway and the surrounding area is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.
⭐ 1 out of 5 stars - Avoid I booked this hotel for a two-night stay with my two children, primarily for its central location. While I expected it to be expensive, €829 for a twin room (no breakfast, no parking) was far too steep — but I assumed the price reflected quality, given the brand and rating. Unfortunately, I was mistaken. To be fair, the young lady at reception on check-in was lovely, so helpful. — the only positive I can mention. The room wasn’t ready on arrival. A flimsy camp bed was added for the third guest, which collapsed repeatedly. We ended up sharing beds. Only two towels were provided for three people, and we had to request more. The room itself wasn’t particularly clean — carpets were heavily stained and the overall feel was tired. The balcony was filthy, littered with bird feathers, droppings, and dangling cables. Worst of all, building materials were stacked outside the door — clearly not recent, as they looked like they’d been there for months. The balcony door was left unlocked, which is a serious safety concern, especially with children. As my 12 year old said to me - if its being used for construction, the room should be taken out of use. When I quietly mentioned this on checkout, hoping it might be addressed for future guests, the manager told me we shouldn’t have been out there as it was being used for construction storage. That response was frankly unacceptable. If the door is open and accessible, how can guests — especially children — be expected to avoid it? Even if this was the case, and they still decided to use it, its outside a large glass window, not a beautiful sight. Breakfast and bar food were average, but everything came at an extra cost. To top it off, a fire drill was run on Saturday morning for staff training. Staff I spoke to didn’t seem to know it was a drill, which left guests — including my children — confused and frightened. I’m not usually one to complain, but this experience was far below expectations. The photos I’ve taken speak for themselves.
