Great location near the airport making it super convenient. Rooms were clean and quite modern. Only downsides with the room was noise as the planes were still loud with windows closed and a few lights didn’t work in the room. Staff all happy and friendly

We had one of the most upsetting experiences at Leonardo Hotel Köln Bonn Airport due to blatant racism and exclusion by a member of the hotel staff – an older white German man who acted as both shuttle driver and check-in personnel. Despite being paying guests and respectful tourists, we were met with coldness, rudeness, and a complete lack of basic hospitality. First, he refused to assist us at check-in, abruptly passing us off to a colleague with no explanation. Moments later, we witnessed him warmly and enthusiastically welcoming a German family – smiling, helping, and engaging in friendly conversation. The contrast was stark and painful. He even shooed us away twice with dismissive gestures, offering no greeting, eye contact, or decency. We felt humiliated and unwelcome, simply because we were not German. No one should ever feel lesser due to their background, especially not in a hotel that markets itself as international and inclusive. This behavior is unacceptable in 2025 – it’s discriminatory, unprofessional, and must be addressed. I urge hotel management to take this seriously, train their staff in anti-discrimination and inclusive conduct, and ensure this never happens again. No traveler should face racism when all they seek is a place to rest. Until then, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone who is not white or local – the risk of being treated as second-class is real.

Not a minimal consideration for new guests. I made a non-refundable reservation via booking.com by mistake (should have been in DUS airport) and after promptly recognizing it I asked the hotel please to cancel it or at least allow a partial reimbursement. The answer was no. I begged and the answer was still no. It is not the first time I don't get any sense of understanding neither pro-active/kind reception of hotels in Germany. I'll never stay in a Leonardo hotel when in the country and will not recommend it to colleagues.
