The site is is wonderful. Beautiful old oaks along a flowing stream and the old mill houses. The room we had this time was recently renovated. Comfortable, but lacked charm. Wouldn't take much to decorate with some character, but the cheap prints on the wall for a room named after an artist ruined the effect. Restaurant : food was great, the service was friendly but lacked professionalism. A few hours training for the seasonal staff would do wonders. We spent too long waiting between dishes, were never asked if we needed anything (we did). The restaurant room needs some renovation and basic cleaning. Overall, during our stay, rather than welcome guests we felt like tolerated intruders. So much potential, just a little bit more attention to guests would make this place a real gem.

Lovely peaceful location, and large comfortable room and bathroom. However our stay was marred by poor service which we would not expect at this level of hotel. Had to wait 20 minutes to check in, plus surly waiting staff. Had to ask to order the wine after a long wait with the wine list. We were not offered tea or coffee at the end of our meal. Obviously too inconvenient for the staff as it was 10 p.m. There were signs of poor maintenance such as 'blown' double glazing unit in the restaurant which meant that fogged up window obscured the view. Weeds also in the outdoor seating area near the pool. We have been visiting this hotel on and off over the last 30 years, and it has quite clearly gone downhill.

Pretentious and expensive, in general falling far short of its high ambition Elizabeth Santiago Your review will be posted publicly on the web. Learn more s and not worth the 500 euros we spent for one night. The room was too small, bathroom no more than adequate. The kitchen was excellent, though a few things extremely disappointing, such as a cheese plate better at home in a high-school cafeteria, and a thoroughly average breakfast without freshly squeezed fruit juice. It's a pity because the grounds are magnificent.
