Absolutely amazing. I stayed here with my four best friends and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The hotel is beautiful, the location unbeatable, the food delicious, the tranquility was great... Thank you for some wonderful days of "slow life"!
My partner and I had an excellent time there. It's a bit of a paradise on earth with a fantastic book shop. It is oriented to art lovers and people who like reading in a relaxing mediterranean ambience. The food from the restaurant is fantastic, and the common spaces are quiet. Unlike some "luxury" hotels in which I have been that end up being crowded, loud, pretentious and just expensive for what they offer, this place is quiet, relaxing, beautiful, unpretentious, and with quality food. Loved it.
We arrived on Easter Sunday as the last stop of our almost 2 week holiday on Cote d’Azur. It was our third accommodation after Saint Tropez and Nice. It was definitely the best as per hotel infrastructure with a spacious room, lovely pool and truly Instagram corners one would expect visiting famous Provence. It was also the most disappointing as per welcome and service. Way to go to learn about hospitality! The lack of personal touch would be fine (we understand the premises are not family owned and you can only expect as much) but the case of very bad breakfast truly got to us and further trials of staff suddenly awaken to give us some sort of attention made it worse! We arrived Sunday and departed Thursday, the breakfast was every day the same, and the last 2 days it was bearly there! Breakfast is served till 10.30 but from 9.50 it was not fulfilled and if so, very partially. The small buffet with mainly cold cuts and very few products (only one cooked! some sort of liquid scrambled eggs) was literally empty! It was so surrealistic to see guests of the hotel (with prices per room 400 euro or more) walking with empty plates and looking at small empty platers. There was only one waiter going up and down with panic in his eyes and instead of saying we apologize for small delay he event tried to find an excuse and blame us we arrived already late. With literally may be 15 persons eating at the same time majority were left with nothing than badly aesthetically peeled boiled eggs and the heap of prosciutto thrown on the narrow plate. Most cakes were finished , there were only ends left…the water in the coffee machine finished etc. As I expressed my disappointment and dissatisfaction in a louder way, suddenly afterwards we were approached by the receptionist asking us to join for dinner in their Alegria restaurant. The past 3 nights we were only constantly informed they were fully booked and from day one no one from the staff sent us a menu, trying to invite us. It was only last day when we exploded that they sent email with menu to propose dinner. We really had curiosity and good intentions to try their cuisine but only to express our disappointment to be proposed it, we found it improper and truly lost our appetite! To sum up, and prove the staff has truly no idea what they are doing, at the end they asked us for a tip!!! After travelling for so many years and working in the hospitality industry at one of the top Greek destinations, we were smashed! No one ever approached us to have a little chat about the area attractions, for 3 nights we were only informed their restaurant is fully booked and not informed as guests of the hotel when and how to make a reservation. The menu was sent to our email the last night! The hotel is named small houses, but maison translating from French is also home! We definitely didn’t feel like at home and would not return. I believe there are many other hotels in the area that with 400-500 euro can provide much better and personal experience. I would definitely not come back.
