There is nothing about this hotel that I could fault. What an EPIC stay we had! My husband and I spent the first part of our baby moon here and it set the expectations so high, nothing could match this place! The salt water / sea pool is phenomenal, the food is exceptional, beds are comfortable, service is fantastic and views are breathtaking! We loved every minute of our stay and it’s worth every single cent! We hope to return one day! 🫶
Beautiful pool, elegant design, and a great valet team. The setting is truly special, but some small details held the experience back from feeling like true 5-star value. Rooms were clean but very small, with the closet turned into a kitchenette. Our balcony had woodlice — understandable in a humid climate, but still preventable. The gym was stuck at 23°C with no cleaning supplies, and room service took three calls to confirm a simple order. At breakfast, we asked for the egg dish without the egg (we’re vegan) and were told “not possible.” €9 for a bitter cappuccino also felt excessive, even by Swiss standards. Some construction debris was still visible on-site, and we felt that the staff at the restaurant were slightly less welcoming to non-French speakers. Incredible location and design — but overall, the experience didn’t quite match the price tag.
La Roches Rouges is a stunning hotel in a breathtaking location, and there’s no denying the beauty of the surroundings. But while we enjoyed our time overall, our stay was slightly overshadowed by a series of issues that really shouldn’t happen at a hotel billed as five-star. Our room lost power multiple times, and we spent the first two days without consistent electricity — not ideal when you're paying for luxury. Behind the bed, we discovered a trail of ants. The handle on our toilet door came off. And, most dramatically, one of our party got locked in the bathroom and had to be rescued by staff after the lock broke. The hotel did move us to another room after some back-and-forth, and we were eventually upgraded to a suite due to lack of availability in our category — which we appreciated — but this level of disruption shouldn’t require so much effort to resolve. The restaurant food was very good (albeit expensive), but service was patchy and quite slow. It’s a beautiful place, but the experience felt more style than substance.
