I'm not sure why the mediocre reviews, but my weekend stay was great. They have an amazing "family suite" which was well worth it. WiFi was spotty, but the hotel was charming and you're in a small town in rural France. Enjoy it!

We normally don't leave extensive reviews but we make an exception for Les Ursilines in Autun. We had a perfect holiday to Burgundy and the hotel was a big part in this. The central location right in the middle of pictoresque Autun (undreground parking available), the hotel itself which used to be an old nun convent, the panaoramic garden that provides amazing view across the Morvan. Special mention of the staff who was very friendly and helpful and made sure that we had an unforgettable trip. And the breakfast was amazing! Prepared by patissier Franck who was always around to make sure that everything was according to wish. We highly recommend this place and we ourselves are already considering to return one day. TLDR: Seems nice from the outside, but ugly inside - No 4 Star Hotel in international comparison - expensive and dirty - Staff with an attitude. We booked this place because we poorly chose Autun to do some roundtrips to the Morvan and the pictures with the ivied wall appealed to us. Long story short- It is a former monastery and under the right management it could be a great hotel, but right now it's state is just saddening. The rooms are tiny, dirty and the smell of the kitchen lingers in the narrow halls and rooms. After we complained about our "superior room" with broken furniture we got a free upgrade to one of the "suites"- in the second tract without elevators what made the stay more bearable. Normaly these "suites" would be 200€ a night. The room itself while being okay was again terribly dirty, the furniture was damaged, the walls paper thin and we could hear everything from our neighbours. Luckily the bed was cleanish and it was not too loud on the 3rd floor. After we had seen the rooms, we did not want to try the kitchen, so we can't say anything about that. The garage is very narrow, poorly lit, the staff smokes here and you can admire a lot of dead insects and rat droppings for just 7 € per night - other than advertised the parking is not free. In summary I would recommend this place to no one.
