Hotel is next to a busy main road junction but windows are sealed shut and sound proof so I barely heard the traffic below my third floor room. Breakfast was good value and well stocked with staff (also at reception) being helpful and friendly. Room I had during previous stay had a decent view of the Cathedral and was situated further away from the road, which was much more preferable.
Staff are so polite, friendly and courteous, they cannot do enough for you. I got parked due to my disability but can see this as a problem for others. My advice is to park round the back, check in and drive about 1/2 mile for off street parking, far better than paying £20 for a day at the car park. The premier inn plus rooms are first class and great to have a fridge and coffee machine. Room has a great view of the cathedral.
I had the pleasure of a two night stay here for a wedding reception nearby. The welcome by one staff member (reception) could be best described as 'robotic', but that was only one person. All the dining room/bar staff were extremely helpful, quick to serve and very welcoming. I'd like to make a particular mention to Macauley and Deepa, who went above and beyond to serve 13 of us at dinner on the evening of 16th April. They were friendly, professional and the service was swift. The other lady I would like to make a special mention to, is Christine. She was there at breakfast on both the 17th and 18th, such a warm and friendly lady, professional, but just had that special 'something', a credit to the Company, as were MaCauley and Deeta. The meal deal of a two course dinner and breakfast the next morning is exceptional value. The only thing I would say is that the vegetarian/vegan options at dinner are limited, but other than that there is an excellent selection to choose from. I had the vegetable Thai green curry which was delicious and not too spicy, but very tasty, thank you to the Chef, we all enjoyed our meals. Breakfast is really good, something for everyone, except if you want vegetarian sausages you will have to ask, and order, but they are delivered to your table, so no big deal there, I just find it odd. The breakfast staff were also helpful and friendly. Note:- If you pre-pay for the meal deal, keep your receipt to show at breakfast as you will be asked for it, which is totally understandable and not at all unreasonable. The rooms are exactly as described in the adverts, big comfortable bed, everything you will need, hairdryer, coffee/tea tray, you'll want for nothing. The night staff were also very helpful in locating my car key, which I had left on a table near the bar, what a relief that was, so thank you, I wish I had got their names. Parking is OK, you can pay by telephone (automated) or on your mobile, but for that you will need to download the parking App. It's totally separate from Premier Inn, but the parking is quite limited there is another car park nearby, but more expensive. l'm not sure how you would cope if you've not been here before and you arrived at night, bring a torch! Signage from the car park to the side of the building to where the entrance to the building is none existent, again, you could be confused if arriving at night as you go around to the left. If you reach the Tesco cash point, go back a few steps and the entrance to the building is there, but the writing on the glass doors saying Premier Inn is does not stand out. All in all though, a brilliant stay I would definitely recommend and stay here again if I am in the area.
