During my recent trip to Penang, Malaysia, I had the pleasure of staying at the remarkable Light Hotel. From the moment I arrived until the day I checked out, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. This hotel not only met but exceeded all of my expectations, offering top-notch service, luxurious accommodations, and an unforgettable culinary experience. Upon arrival, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by the hotel’s reception team, which consisted of Mrs. Pabitra, Mrs. Sureetha, and Mr. Sivaji. Their friendly demeanor and eagerness to assist made me feel instantly welcome. They were incredibly helpful in providing information about the hotel’s amenities, local attractions, and dining options, ensuring that my stay would be as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. It is rare to encounter such a well-coordinated and attentive team, and they certainly made a lasting impression. The hotel itself is a beautiful blend of modernity and comfort. My room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and impeccably clean. The design was contemporary, with every detail thoughtfully considered to provide a relaxing atmosphere. The bed was incredibly comfortable, offering a perfect night's rest after a day of exploring Penang. The amenities in the room were also top-quality, including a well-stocked mini-bar, a state-of-the-art television, and a luxurious bathroom with all the essentials. It was clear that Light Hotel values the comfort of its guests, and every aspect of the room reflected this. One of the highlights of my stay was the food. The hotel offers an outstanding array of Malaysian cuisine that is both authentic and delicious. The breakfast buffet, in particular, was a standout. I indulged in a variety of traditional Malaysian dishes, each bursting with flavors that were rich and aromatic. The nasi lemak, a local favorite, was simply mouthwatering, with the perfect balance of spicy sambal, fragrant coconut rice, and crispy fried anchovies. The variety of options available, from roti canai to dim sum, ensured that there was something to please every palate. It was evident that the chefs at Light Hotel take great pride in preparing dishes that showcase the diverse culinary heritage of Malaysia. In addition to the food, the hotel’s facilities were exceptional. The hotel featured a well-equipped fitness center, a beautiful pool, and a relaxing spa, offering guests a variety of options to unwind. The central location of the hotel also made it easy to explore the city, with popular attractions like the Penang Hill, Kek Lok Si Temple, and the famous street art of George Town just a short distance away. Overall, my stay at Light Hotel was a truly memorable experience. The combination of outstanding service, luxurious accommodations, and delicious food made it one of the best hotel stays I’ve ever had. The hospitality of Mrs. Pabitra, Mrs. Sureetha, and Mr. Sivaji made my time there even more enjoyable, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Penang. Whether you’re in town for business or leisure, Light Hotel provides the perfect base for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. I look forward to returning on my next visit to this beautiful island.
Before I even get into the hotel and rooms themselves - I never saw hotel staff take pictures of guests IDs on their personal devices and this shouldn’t be “hotel policy”. Do what every other hotel does and take a photo copy… There is absolutely no need for anyone to have digital copies of guests documents on personal devices. 1. The location for google maps is wrong and it leads you behind the building. 2. The parking area is tiny and narrow - parking is paid, which isn’t obvious until you are halfway through checking in. I’d understand the paid parking is it was valet and you’d not have to worry about getting blocked in by delivery vans, like we did, or getting in/out of tiny spaces when the car park os full of other bigger cars. 3. Coffee & tea in the room are not free - this is something I’ve never seen before. Either make it free or have some coffee machines on each floor so people can then pick what they actually want. This is just such a cheap thing to for a 4* hotel. 4. The elevator is too far from the front desk. 5. Soundproofing is lacking. I was woken up by noise early because the room housekeeping uses for supplies etc was opposite my room. Overall, the hotel wants to be a more upscale establishment but the attitude and level of service doesn’t match this.
A/C does not work. We had a very bad experience with staff and receptionist. Customer service is poor and they don’t speak the truth. First they said that A/C system is not in operation because it’s October - even though it is +26 C outside. Then asked them to turn it on - the story changes. Now they say the A/C system is broken altogether. In every other hotel of the city A/C works. It looks like they just want to save in electricity costs and then they leave their Ukrainian and International visitors without A/C. I don’t recommend this hotel to any travellers who appreciate the basic hotel and hospitality industry standards. I used to stay here many times in 2023 and early 2024. This used to be a good hotel. Not anymore. I will never return to this place. Avoid this place at all costs.
