We arrived for the weekend from Dublin. We we're met at the reception by Antonio who was very happy and a pleasure to deal with while we we're checking in. He made checking in very easy and straight forward and having our room ready before check in time which was very helpful for us. The room was very big and had everything we needed and most importantly the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the leisure facilities which were amazing. Highly recommend the hotel and all the staff we met along the way during our stay we're so nice and made the experience even more enjoyable. Thank you Antonio and all the staff at The Strand Hotel.
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5) Review for: Strand Hotel Limerick The hotel is in a great location and has a very presentable lobby. Staff are polite, helpful, and really make an effort, which I appreciated. However, the overall experience was not up to 4-star standards. The room (303) was outdated and showed visible signs of wear and tear. Cleanliness was acceptable but not what you would expect from a 4-star hotel. The bathroom was basic, and the shower water pressure was so poor it was essentially unusable. Very disappointing. Breakfast was also below expectations — limited selection, no eggs other than scrambled, no hash browns, and you have to ask for butter, which arrived after a 5-minute wait as a single piece on a plate. Not worth paying extra for. The swimming pool and steam room are clearly dated and in need of renovation. The steam room felt like something out of the ’90s — which also seems to be when the promotional photos were taken. Overall, not a bad stay thanks to the great staff and location, but this is definitely not a 4-star experience. Would rate it as a solid 3-star hotel
Not what we expected for the price. When you pay 2K for a week, you expect high standards. Our room wasn’t properly cleaned on arrival – there were chip crumbs and coins left in the drawers, and lots of dust in less visible spots. The room itself felt very old, worn out, and partially dirty. The bathroom was okay. Housekeeping only came after the first night and then skipped almost three days. We had to ask at reception for toilet paper twice before it was actually delivered. This level of service is not what you’d expect at this price point. Breakfast was limited, and the so-called free-range scrambled eggs looked and tasted like powdered eggs. The pool area was fine for adults, kids were tolerated, and the gym was sufficient to stay active. Staff were friendly and tried to help, but overall, the hotel feels outdated and nowhere near worth the money they charge. Feels more like a budget 3-star experience marketed as something premium.
