One of the best ski resorts in the world! Nice and large rooms with lots of variety available for different price points. Lots of lounges to relax and spend time with companions. Amazing public bath with natural onsen and outdoor bath. Staff were polite and very helpful. Restaurants can be improved upon with variety and quality...

My wife and I had a great ski experience at Arai. We spent two days on the slopes and were blown away by the incredible Japan powder. For a short stay, the location was perfect. While there isn’t much to explore off the premises, the amenities were outstanding. One of my favorite moments was unwinding in the Cottage Lounge after a day of skiing, sipping a cocktail, and taking in the beautiful mountain view. The only downside was my experience at the rental shop. As someone who had never skied in powder before, I wasn't advised to rent powder skis, so I opted for all-mountain skis instead. While they were fine, given the deep powder conditions, I asked to swap them out after a few runs, especially since I had already paid for two days of rental. Unfortunately, I was told there would be an additional fee for the swap, which I felt should’ve been a simple exchange and was contrary to the exceptional service we experienced otherwise. On a positive note, the free shuttle to and from the train station was extremely convenient and easy to use (just make sure to make a reservation). Overall, it was a fun experience and I’d definitely recommend it.

Steak house service & menu very good. Breakfast choice is very good. The family room was comfortable. Swimming pool pleasant but disappointed to have to pay extra to use it. Bar drinks are expensive and beware of the table charge that is added to the bill. Overall, it's a good hotel, but I feel it is overpriced.
