Went out for a birthday and Mother’s Day celebration at Woodlands Hall. Mum had mentioned they had a refurbishment and the locals were able to use the restraint and hotel so we went for a nose. Lovely building. Busy day there. Food was lovely but had a little wait due to the amount of people eating. Had a nice chat to the waitress who dealt with us and still found the chance to show us the newly decorated bedrooms ( best in Ruthin I’d say) We will definitely have this venue on our list when we are next in Ruthin. Thank you for a memorable day.
Lovely looking place really nice rooms brilliant location. the staff are nice but dim . The evening menu is very limited and not very good ,definitely not worth the wait. Breakfast can be described as terrible firstly there was no mushrooms then we got baked toast because they had no toaster. The kids pancakes was supposed to have syrup upon but it was actually just melted sugar but crystallised. On the whole I would recommend staying here because the rooms are absolutely lovely and a brilliant location but if you want food, I would recommend that you just eat. And if you want to use the tea and coffee be very careful because the sachets of milk that they give you are about 10 days out of date.
Just returned from a four night stay. It's just outside Ruthin, in a picturesque location nestled on a wooded hillside, only ten minutes from the town. The setting is undeniably lovely, with natural beauty all around, and a sense that this once used to be a special, well-loved place. Unfortunately, it’s clear that time and attention have not been kind. At this peak holiday season, right at the start of the summer holidays, you would expect the site to be at its best. Instead, the place showing signs of tiredness, neglect and general upkeep lacking. Around the reception and main house, the pool area is still a building site. Was told it would be completed “in a few weeks” but the scale and state of it suggest otherwise. It looks like it's been stalled for some time, possibly due to budget constraints, staffing issues or poor planning. Recycling efforts are either not enforced or not functioning. Bins were overflowing, and many were uncollected. All detracted from the tranquillity of the location. You can see the bones of a great site, but it’s all let down by a lack of care and investment. With effort this place could shine again, but as it stands, it feels like a slow slide into decline. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and clearly working hard with what they have. They made a real effort, which stood out and made the stay more pleasant. If you’re looking for charm and scenery, you’ll find it here. But if expecting facilities, and modern upkeep, you may want to look elsewhere or at least manage your expectations.
