We booked a lodge at Mcdonald Resort Aviemore for the weekend. It was a brilliant getaway! Lots to do for kids and adults, quadbiking, swimming, walks with the dog and the indoor soft play area are the activities we got up to! Plenty others on offer. The Lodge was lovely, cosy and comfy beds. Kitchen is small but we only needed it to make cuppas and breakfast. Definitely recommend for families with or without dogs!
The rooms were very traditional with old style finishing very Scottish they don't provide a kettle or tea and coffee so be prepared to pop to the restraunt after a stroll for a drink. The food was first class and the staff was very professional. Well worth a stay
False Advertising & Absolutely Disgusting – Unsafe, Dirty & Not Worth £570 We booked Macdonald Aviemore Hotel through Agoda for £570 for 3 nights (£190 per night) and had to check out immediately after seeing the state of the room. We had driven 5 hours with a toddler and young child expecting a family-friendly break — instead, we were completely horrified. The reality was nothing like the website photos. They show clean rooms and happy families — but what we got was the complete opposite: • Pubic hairs and thick dust throughout the room • Loose screws on the floor – a choking risk for our toddler • Dirty finger marks on the walls • A broken bedside light with no shade, unstable and unsafe • Windows covered in dirt, with mold growing in the frames When we complained, we were told we could be moved — but it took 2 hours just to get a response, leaving us sitting around with two young children, completely exhausted and stressed. Eventually, we had no choice but to leave. We managed to find another hotel in Edinburgh, 2 hours away, at 8:30 at night, and didn’t arrive until 11:30PM, absolutely shattered. Ironically, this last-minute hotel — booked in desperation — was clean, safe, and the same cost, which makes this whole situation even more infuriating. The hotel staff admitted the room wasn’t up to standard, but the damage was already done. Our trip was ruined, we were left out of pocket, and we are still waiting for a full refund from Agoda. This is false advertising. What they show online is not what you get. Please don’t make the same mistake we did. If you care about your children’s safety or basic hygiene, avoid this hotel at all costs.
