Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel

Visited and stayed the night on bank holiday Monday to Tuesday. Excellent service at the desk, really lovely rooms, very clean. Spa treatments were nice very professional just wish I had booked a longer time for the massage. Was not busy. Nice selection of saunas/steam rooms/ salt room? A couple of them smelt a bit musky the first day but they were fine on the second day. Perhaps could use a bit of maintenance work to get the spa facilities up to shape. The included breakfast was quite nice, small portion but tasty and great service again, a small spread of additional cereals/ cheese, croissants and fruit to pick from as well. My partner had stayed here last summer too and said it was a bit nicer last time, regardless for my first time here I felt it was a great stay overall! Oh and nice gardens to walk around, and not far to walk to the city centre.

A peaceful retreat nestled in nature We stayed at the Bath Spa Hotel last October and had a truly relaxing experience. The hotel is tucked away in a secluded, lush green area, surrounded by beautiful gardens and majestic, centuries-old trees — a setting that instantly soothes the mind. Our room was spacious and clean, with fresh sheets. The highlight for us was spending our evenings at the spa — especially the outdoor pool, where we could stargaze while immersed in warm, soothing water. It was magical. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we really enjoyed the comfort of the lounge area — perfect for winding down with a drink or a book. A perfect blend of elegance and serenity. We left feeling renewed and can’t wait to return.

Overall we had a great shoert break at the Spa Hotel, the room was lovely and the staff couldn't be more friendly, so why only 3 stars? This came down to 2x things that I would have expected to be better. 1) Quality of the breakfast was really poor. 1st Day we had a breakfast bun that was on what can only be described as a cheap bun that tasted very sweet, one sausage of poor quality and taste and one very tough rasher of bacon. The egg was OK though. Day 2 we decided we would have poached eggs on toast, what could go wrong? Well the eggs were cold and had to be sent back an the replacements were best described as tepid. No considor if you don't book breakfast with yoiur booking it costs £26 per person to have a warm breakfast I think the quality served was very very poor. 2) The robes that are available for the spa. I wouldn't say that we are exceptionally sized but we could barely get the robes over our shoulders and mine barely came below my waste. When we asked for a bigger size we were informed that this is the only size that they have. It is just not acceptable and we felt very body conscious when moving around the spa area and back to our room. That said it is a lovely hotel in a lovely location with very friendly staff, just needs to do better on the details.
