Okay, it’s very reasonably priced. And it’s got a nice atmosphere, in the centre of town, high ceilings, traditional, my room was spacious. But it’s a basic, old hotel, probably approaching the end of a revamp cycle and really needs a bit of a TLC. I am really put off by worn (moth-eaten?) carpet. Other stuff was a bit ropey. Nonfunctional windows. Non draining shower drain. But it was clean, comfy, central, cosy, cost effective…..
Would definitely not recommend this hotel!! The only good thing was it being located in the city centre. We were gifted a £100 voucher by a relation by way of an Anniversary present. We booked in a double standard room which we later found out was nothing like the room we were allocated. Unfortunately, I omitted to take photos of the room and bathroom. The room was tiny. The TV crackled when in use which was annoying. Shower curtain had black mold spots on it. Room and bathroom need updating as a matter of urgency. Carpets need a good clean or renewing asap! I did take this up with the voucher company who, in turn took it up with the hotel. The hotels response was that they were keeping the £100 even though the double standard rooms were approx £60 at the time of our booking. On looking in their website the room we had been allocated wasn’t even pictured on there. The dearest room they had was the suite priced at £84! So the £100 voucher covered this room but we wasn’t offered it. They didn’t have any milk for breakfast cereal or any yogurts. They staff apologised and said they hadn’t had a delivery- this was at approximately 8.30am! Bearing in mind they are based in the city centre and next door was a M&S no one thought to pop out and buy some milk and yogurts. Wouldn’t ever book this hotel again.
⸻ I have never stayed in a worse hotel. It was extremely dirty and smelled musty. The service was worse than what you’d expect at a train station. The breakfast was terrible — there was barely any choice, and the next day there was practically nothing left; everything was empty, and we had to wait a very long time (in fact, we never got any food, so we ended up eating elsewhere). It was a complete waste of money. This place shouldn’t be called a hotel — at best, it qualifies as a hostel. The rooms were filthy, with someone else’s hair, thick dust that clearly hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, windows that probably hadn’t been washed in years, and cobwebs everywhere — absolutely disgusting. I’ve never seen anything like it, and my husband and I travel a lot. The only positive thing I can mention is the location — it was conveniently close to everything. Other than that, there was nothing good about our stay. To make matters worse, when we checked in, we were given a room that was already occupied. There was no apology, no concern from the staff, which made me feel unsafe and very uncomfortable throughout our stay. I absolutely do not recommend this place.
