The rooms we great. Just be aware that the roof sheds some being a straw roof. There are some bugs that get into the room, too, but they didn't bother us too much. The service there was amazing! The waiters/waitresses were very helpful. We had breakfast everyday and one waiter stood out, Enrique. The other workers were friendly and greeted you with everything you passed by. The activities person was very knowledgeable and helpful with setting up tours and activities.

Mahekal is a delightful place to stay and I can thoroughly recommend it. This is the second year I have stayed here, this time around we decided to upgrade ourselves to the Ocean View bungalow with private pool. The Mahekal is set right on a beautiful beach, it is very calm and family friendly. The broader resort has a large selection of pools and restaurants, all served by friendly and attentive staff. I like to just read a book and drink a beer in the sun with peace and quiet. This places certainly offers that. The private beach gives you access to the main beach but with the added security and comfort of your own space, supported by a friendly 24/7 security team, allowing you piece of mind to go into the water alone while leaving your belongings on the lounger. Additionally, many of the loungers are reserved for the rooms, and they are very good at ensuring guests don’t reserve loungers with towels, so it is always easy to find a spot to relax regardless of the time you woke up. This year they have brought in someone to support with activities. This isn’t usually my thing, I like to relax and keep myself to myself, but the team were so lovely and make an excellent addition to the place. This included a pool party on the Sunday which was a huge amount of fun, but also very family friendly and relaxed, ensuring I would go back to my lounger and book without being distracted. The team really made a huge effort, and I really enjoyed myself. The food is very good, every night the buffet has a separate theme, so the food is fresh, authentic, delicious but also different every night. The rooms are incredibly beautiful, thatched, spacious, very well air conditioned and comfortable. In terms of room design and comfort I would suggest they are the standard you would expect at a very high standard international hotel, but also individual and with homely. As a return traveller who has stayed in both one of the standard rooms and also one of the top rooms I think the experience is consistent and would certainly come here again. It’s peaceful, fun, safe and relaxing.

We had a fantastic experience at Mahekal Beach Resort. The welcoming drinks and overall comfortable atmosphere made us feel right at home. The food was also very good, with plenty of great options to choose from. What really made our stay stand out was the exceptional concierge service. Our concierge Abraham went above and beyond to organize activities, recommend local highlights, and make sure our stay was completely stress-free. Their thoughtful help ensured we enjoyed every moment of our trip. We’ll happily remember this visit for a long time.
