Maiyan Luxury Resort

This resort was awesome!! The food was amazing and they had a variety of food from different culture and the food was well cooked! The room in the villa was very big, with extra items that made our stay more comfortable! Their service was quick and they provided us with an amazing stay :) I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone that is looking for a relaxing getaway to the wonderful Nanyuki!

I had the pleasure of staying at Maiyan in Nanyuki, and overall, it was a good experience with several highlights—but also a few areas that could use improvement. The setting is stunning, and the villas are incredibly comfortable, striking a perfect balance between luxury and homely charm. My favorite feature was the private rooftop jacuzzi in each villa, ideal for a relaxing soak while enjoying the serene landscape. The service was excellent both the wait staff and housekeeping were impressively prompt and attentive throughout the stay. The meals were delicious, with fresh ingredients and thoughtful preparation. We also took part in some fun outdoor activities, including bike riding, which added an adventurous touch to the visit. However, the bikes could use some attention, as a few were faulty and in need of servicing or replacement. One area that fell short was the spa experience. Given the brand’s reputation, I expected more. The massage rooms were small, and there were frequent interruptions and background noise from staff, which disrupted the experience and made it hard to truly relax. Additionally, while the rooftop plunge pools were a lovely concept, they would benefit from more frequent cleaning to maintain their appeal. Overall, Maiyan offers a beautiful escape with great potential. With improvements in spa quality, activity equipment, and pool maintenance, it could provide an exceptional luxury experience. I’d still recommend it for a getaway and would consider returning in the future.

The hotel gave us a very bad impression and experience. We booked 8 rooms for a group tour. The booking is fully paid at a booking platform at the time of booking 4 months before checkin. Upon check in, the hotel told us it’s not paid. We showed them the receipt and then they said it’s ok. However, at the time of checkout they suddenly said they didn’t get the money. The hotel kept our guests for over 2 hours. This is not acceptable. The booming platform confirmed us the booking is fully paid and told the hotel so, however the hotel still do not release our guests, the kept the gate closed and our guests as hostage. This is horrible. At the end we had to pay the hotel directly (again) and they release our guests. The issues is between the booking platform and the hotel, they could have dealt with each other directly and should leave our guests alone. However Humphrey (the person in charge) didn’t care about our guests and kept our guests as hostage. They could have handled this a lot better as a 4-stat hotel.
