Overall a very pleasant hotel with a great room. Room had a high standard, bed was okay (though a little bit too hard for my personal preference) and cleaning was fine. Room was quiet and cool. Check-in and check-out was smooth. I think the only negative things I could say was that our safe wasn't working and the location wasn't great for our purposes. It's a little bit of a walk to the tube stations regardless of where you're going which can end up being a little too much in the end as a tourist when all you do is walk all day (especially with kids).
It was a very disappointing stay. The location was perfect, the rooms were decent but the service and hospitality left for more to be desired. The front desk never greeted us when entering/exiting. If you have a dietary restriction, you would be better off dining elsewhere because almost everything on the menu is fried or high caloric and high carbs meals. I asked the waiter for a plain grilled protein and I received both fried shrimp AND fried chicken. It was honestly a shame because I would think that a hotel in such a hip and vibrant area would have options for people who don’t eat things like rice, butter, or dairy products. Finally, since the place didn’t have anything that I could eat, I decided to eat a meal from elsewhere in the lobby and was informed that the hotel does not allow for outside food to be eaten in the lobby. Honestly, a hotel is all about hospitality and accommodations, however, I feel as if I did not receive either. Hence, I would not stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to family and friends. EDIT: The hotel responded and one thing that I’ve noticed about hotels is that they always tend to respond with “We understand.. but.” When servicing customers in this particular industry, there should be no “buts.” Simply take accountability and do better next time. As far as the ability to “eat in the room” it’s practically non existent as the room is extremely small and does not have a desk to eat at. Please understand that there will be no reconsideration on staying at this hotel.
### A Disappointing Stay at Maldron Hotel Shoreditch I recently stayed at Maldron Hotel Shoreditch for five days, expecting a premium experience for the £350-per-day rate. Unfortunately, my stay turned out to be quite disappointing due to a series of issues that made my trip unnecessarily stressful and uncomfortable. #### Day 1: Assigned a Disability Room Upon check-in, we were given a disability-access room. While we understand the need for such accommodations, the room's design and facilities were highly inconvenient for us, as we do not require special accessibility features. The washroom setup, in particular, was uncomfortable and impractical for our needs. When we requested assistance, the hotel staff agreed to move us to another room the following day. #### Day 2: A Room with a Broken Air Conditioner On the second day, we moved to a new room, expecting a better experience. However, this room had its own issue: the air conditioning was not functioning. The room's temperature was unbearably warm, hovering around 30°C, making it impossible to relax or sleep comfortably. I reached out to the reception desk multiple times, but their response was disappointing. The staff appeared uncooperative, displayed poor communication skills, and lacked professionalism. They greeted our concerns with dismissive attitudes and "pocket faces," leaving us frustrated and feeling unwelcome. After much back-and-forth, their only solution was to move us to yet another room. #### The Hassle of Moving Rooms Repeatedly Packing and unpacking repeatedly during a stay is incredibly inconvenient, especially for travelers who prefer to settle in and focus on their itinerary. One of the main reasons we chose a hotel like Maldron was to save time and enjoy a comfortable, uninterrupted stay. Instead, the constant room changes disrupted our plans and added unnecessary stress to our trip. #### A Disappointing Experience Despite High Expectations We chose Maldron Hotel Shoreditch because it is a relatively new property (opened in 2022) and trusted the brand to provide a high standard of service and facilities. However, the experience over the first two days completely shattered that trust. Despite paying a premium rate, we encountered poor customer service, malfunctioning facilities, and an overall lack of professionalism. #### Conclusion Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a comfortable and reliable stay. While its newness and brand reputation initially inspired confidence, the reality was far from what we expected. For the price charged, the service and facilities should be far better. Our stay at Maldron Hotel Shoreditch was a regrettable choice, and we would not consider staying here again.
