Malibu Hotel

Cheap and cheerful. No issues but room was a tight squeeze for two and I couldn't work the bath/shower

We chose this hotel because it was close to Funny girls and the gay bars for NYE. The location is brilliant, literally step outside and across the road. The room we ordered was a triple room, so we had a double room with the adjoining door opened to 2x single bed room. The man who showed us to our room was using racist language when talking about other guests to us, so instantly we knew we wouldn't come back, regardless of our experience. He was unable to open the adjoining door, so a different man came to resolve this within a out 20 minutes. He was very friendly and polite, a huge contrast to the other man. Roomwise, no where in the double room to hang up coats, bags. No desk or dressing table. The kettle and cups were on one beside table. The window was stuff to open, with the handle loose so we were worried it would break. The room was extremely basic, which isn't actually a problem when we are just using it for a place to crash when we get back from the bars. The room could do with some TLC, lumpy mattress, damage to walls in several places about the room, tired looking bathroom. (The water was warm but too low pressure to have any kind of decent shower.) At about 3am the neighbours had the hotel member of staff out because their room was leaking. Lots of noise was made getting neighbours to their new room. Won't be returning.

The only positive about this b&b is the location. Room was below basic, no bedside lamp, bedside table, drawers or anywhere to put any baggage other than 5 hangers on a rail so ended up piled up in a corner, very shoddily finished, shower head so furred up with lime scale the water goes out at all angles mostly running down the wall and shower curtain so almost impossible to get wet, window doesn’t close to the seals properly so very noisy. Breakfast not included either so all in all very poor value for money
