Manee Dheva Resort & Spa

I happened upon this premise on my way to Mae Salong. Day was getting late and I wasn't going to make it to Mae Salong before night fall, and I didn't have my accommodation booked for the night. I saw the (tastefully) illuminated building in the middle of the rice fields and pulled over. I asked for the room and there it was. Superb service; perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism. Relaxing on my private deck, I was surrounded by fireflies at night. Beautifully and tastefully designed cabins and main lodge... couldn't be happier. Next time I hope they'll have a bug net installed over the rooftop dining area though.

We particularly picked this place since we rented a car for our ChiangRai trip, and would love to explore the beauty in the countryside. The experience of staying in a true (organic) rice field is extraordinary. We were lucky to see both the resort in absolute sunshine as well as in foggy autumn rain. There are only 10 bungalows, which luxuriously leaves plenty of lush to only a handful of customers. The hotel is co-owned by a French young man, Frances, who greets and chats with you during breakfast area. He is especially accommodating when we requested to leave a bag of charity gifts for a child care center in Mae Salong. I like the views from the dining area to the skyline, from the paths to the bungalows, from the room towards the rice patty fields, and even from the bathtub in the room! The bungalow has floor-to-ceiling windows, which admits plenty of natural lights. Do expect lots of insects and sounds from the nature since it is literally in the middle of the rice fields where rice is being harvested and is for sale/cook later. The mattresses are very comfortable that we had a good sleep after a super tiring drive back from the Mae Salong in a rainy dark evening. Pro: Views, Views, Views! bungalow setting, friendly staff Con: remote location (takes Google plus very good eyes to find it), little breakfast variety, cleaniness (more lemon grass or the equivalent to rid of insect in the room?!)

Really nice hotel surrounded by rice fields. The rooms are simply amazing: really spacious and comfortable! Thanks a mil to the staff for their warm welcome during our honey moon.
