Manoir De Ponsay

We had an amazing stay here. We stayed with our little boys for 2 nights on our way to and frlm Puy de Fou and really enjoyed the chateau feel. The host is very welcoming and friendly. Good breakfast, too. We loved playing with Paddy the dog and the boys were sad to leave

The Manoir/Chateau de Ponsay is an authentic place to stay when visiting Vendée (including the Puy du Fou). Excellent hospitality (and advice) by the owners (Laurent de Ponsay being the descendant and heir of a long line of 'Lords of this Manor.' A much better and more rewarding experience than commercial hotels or even less-than-authentic B&Bs.

The warmth of the welcome from Laurent and his wife makes this an even more special place to stay. The manor house has great character and is clean and comfortable. There's a short walk around the grounds, accompanied by the very friendly dogs. The room is comfortable and the wifi's not bad. The shower is one of those stand-in-the-bath affairs, but it was fine for me. Dinner was surprising - due to staff shortages, dinner was pre-prepared by a caterer - there was a good choice, but the elements arrived in jars - they were surprisingly good and I had an excellent dinner - with excellent service and ambiance - ate every morcel - relished every minute. Happy to reccomend the Manoir to you.
