The dense history of China resides here. Shanghai was developed by Western powers dictating trading terms to the Chinese government in the 19th century. This hotel is in the French quarter and the hotel in a predominately beaux arts design straight out of Pars. With a distinct, beautifully crafted Chinese interior design. Breakfast is served in a rooftop dining room. Next door to the hotel is a busy park. Quietly conveyed is the fact that the hotel was originally a clubhouse for Shanghai bosses and it conveys a certain mystery that Shanghai continues to exude, All in all it's a great place. Excellent staff and the rooms are very comfortable.

This hotel is amazing and so are the people, privacy clean rooms, good food and easy access to subway and all other transportation places. The rooms are huge with big windows and huge balconies perfect for the warm evenings. Pick up and dropoff to the airport are also a bonus when you fly for 10 or 12 hours. I would recommend this place.

Beautiful interiors with 1930s decor. Huge, comfortable rooms. Good variety of Chinese and Western breakfast items. Excellent location in a low-rise area steps away from metro. Huge, luxurious bathrooms with large tubs and fancy shower setup. Decent Wifi. Doormen very friendly. A few areas to improve: reception desk English was not up to some fairly routine requests (get me a car with driver for the day), sometimes paperwork took too long. Plumbing maintenance could be better: some shower heads are clogged with calcium deposits, some tub hardware was loose. Wifi configuration could be better, using a single name for all rooms. Note that just because you can easily and quickly get a taxi most times of day, you can't count on that when it's raining. I'd have thought they'd have a deal with some radio cab operator so that this wouldn't happen.
