Manteo at Eldorado Resort

Stayed at a beachfront villa for our wedding at Eldorado, staff were amazing and accommodating. Loved the view, loved the location. Only downfall was the only treadmill inside the gym was not working. Had to use the gym inside the Eldorado side, wasn't a big deal though. Overall everything was quick and easy to check in and out, service was great, the luggage storage was awesome even when our room wasn't ready. Thank you for a great time! Definitely will return in the future!

I really enjoyed my stay here, which makes it all the more unfortunate that this situation has led me to leave a negative review. I stayed from August 1–4. As soon as we got home, I realized I had accidentally left my hair dryer in the room. It’s an expensive item, and the reason why I’ve been so persistent in trying to recover it. I immediately called the front desk to report the missing item and was told I’d receive a call back once it was located. On August 5, I called again and was told there was no update. On August 6, I received the ONLY callback in this whole debacle, and was informed that the item had been found and that I’d be sent an email with shipping details and instructions for payment. I have never received this email. On August 7, I followed up, but was told the staff member handling it wasn’t working that day, and my details would be passed along. Still, no response. By August 13, with no updates, I called again, only to be told they had no record of what I was talking about, despite being reassured multiple times that my item had been found. As of Aug 21, there's no update still. At this point, I’m beginning to believe the item was never actually located, or possibly stolen, and I’ve resigned myself to the likelihood that I’ll never get it back. I fully acknowledge that leaving the hair dryer behind was my mistake. However, I took all the right steps to recover it, was willing to pay for shipping, followed up accordingly, left my contact details so many times. That lack of communication and any meaningful follow up is what makes this experience so frustrating.

We had originally intended to stay at Sparkling Hill but, on a whim, altered our plans to Manteo—a decision I regret almost immediately. The very first room we were given had a shower clogged with hair, which is not exactly the welcome one anticipates at an establishment of this supposed calibre. Within minutes we found ourselves at the front desk requesting a different room, only to be told that none were available and that “maintenance would be sent.” Hardly the solution one expects for over $600 a night. The service throughout our stay was indifferent at best, the restaurant offerings uninspired and wholly forgettable, and apart from the admittedly pleasant beach view, the property has little else to recommend it. For a resort charging such rates, one expects polish, attentiveness, and at the very least, a functioning shower.
