Mantra MacArthur Hotel

This was the first time I stayed here, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. On the map, I thought initially that the position wasn’t that good, but I was totally wrong! It is right across the road from the light rail and a tram stop, providing easy access all around Canberra. The hotel staff were excellent, very helpful and really made everything so easy. The rooms are very comfortable, spotless with a desk for working. The breakfast was very reasonably priced and had a good range of items. I didn’t have a chance to try out the weekday restaurant, but it looks very good as well and safe travelling at the end of a long day. as I said, I didn’t know what to expect, but I was really pleasantly surprised at the high-quality of this hotel, and it was very good value for money. Next time I come to Canberra, I will certainly see if there are vacancies here first – it’s really very good! I had a pleasant hassle free stay - highly recommended!

The king singles are zipped together without a topper, so the centre of the bed is a no-go zone. The reception staff are wonderful. Always book a free cancellation room as the price can drop by more than $20 per night if you wait till close to your booking night(s).

The hotel has a decent location probably its main advantage. The rooms meet basic expectations with no major complaints but no standout features either. BREAKFAST and parking leave room for improvement: the breakfast selection is limited and parking spaces are insufficient which can be inconvenient. Overall, the hotel is suitable for a short stay if location is your priority. However, the service and amenities could be better.
