We absolutely love this hotel. It's located right on the beach so we can walk along all the way to the wharf, up State street, or the harbor with a spectacular view of the ocean. Year-round, It's a lovely place to visit. The hotel itself is clean and well run. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. It has a lovely pool with a pool side casual restaurant and bar. Maybe rooms have private balconies with full ocean views, not just a peek.
Absolutely Unforgettable Corporate Event at Mar Monte Hotel! We recently hosted our corporate reception at Mar Monte Hotel – The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, and I can’t say enough good things about our experience. From the stunning oceanfront views and timeless Spanish architecture to the flawless service, everything was top-notch. But what truly made the event exceptional was the incredible support and attention to detail provided by Eryn, the Food and Beverage Manager. From the very first planning conversation to the final toast of the evening, Eryn was an absolute superstar. She made sure every aspect of our event was thoughtfully executed — from the deliciously curated menu and drink selections to the perfectly timed service throughout the evening. Her professionalism, warmth, and eye for detail helped turn our reception into a seamless and memorable experience. Our guests are still raving about the food — fresh, flavorful, and artfully presented — and the overall ambiance of the venue was unmatched. The Mar Monte team made us feel like VIPs, and Eryn was the heartbeat of it all. She anticipated needs before they arose, handled last-minute requests with grace, and made sure everyone was taken care of with genuine hospitality. If you’re considering hosting a corporate event, reception, or even a personal celebration, look no further than Mar Monte Hotel — and be sure to ask for Eryn. She’ll take your event from great to extraordinary. We’ll absolutely be returning for future gatherings!
I’ll start with the positives: the hotel is in an older building, which gives it charm, coziness and the rooms were comfortable. The patio was lovely to sit on with the fire pits, and the view of the ocean was great! It has beachfront access across the street, as well as a couple of restaurants/cafes, and a pool and fitness center. The hot tub was great. The people overall were extremely pleasant and helpful! Some mid points: the food was delicious, but very expensive. The hotel is a little outside of downtown, about a 30 minute walk to the wharf (probably a little more to the shops), but we had a car so it wasn’t too bad to drive down further. However since it’s outside of downtown it wasn’t loud, it was very quiet even on the main road. Now for the negatives (as I’m sure whoever has read this far is probably wondering why it’s 3/5 stars): the rooms did not have a microwave or coffeemaker. The only way to get coffee was in the morning in the lobby, which they sometimes ran out of around 8 or 9 (when it was supposed to be 7-11am). Also the coffee was mid. And since this is a resort hotel, not having a microwave was inconvenient when you want to bring food from the restaurant up to the room. Account for an extra $50 a day for valet parking, as that is the ONLY parking option at the hotel, unless you want to fight for a spot on the street with other hotels. The valet workers were fantastic (don’t get me wrong), but it would have been nice if that wasn’t the only option. The pool and pool area were small, and sometimes filled up by 10:00am, so unless you go and stake out a spot early and stay all day, it was hard to use (I understand this isn’t 100% their fault due to space, just something I wanted to point out). On the last day of our stay, the current guests staying there were not allowed to the patio or other common areas of the hotel because they were setting up for a wedding. I understand wanting to bring in all new furniture for an event like that, but not letting current guests use the amenities they’re already paying for is a huge negative. We had to make a noise complaint on our last night, due to new guests who had come in and were (maybe) partying above us, but it was nonstop. However the hotel didn’t do anything about the noise complaint, so we were disappointed to end the stay on a low note. The woman at the front desk was lovely the next morning however, and removed the $25 resort fee upon checkout (account for that cost too). Again, the people were lovely! Also, when booking the hotel the number does not take you to the front desk unfortunately. It takes you to a call center which is normally fine, but the representative was very pushy with certain features and it left a bad impression. Overall it was a good stay, but there were definitely its moments. Edit: I just remembered there was a Keurig in each room
