Beautiful authentic portuguese horse farm with a great service, amazing swimming pool and spacious apartments. Kim was very kind and my little daughter enjoyed a pony riding lesson with her while the rest of the family was chilling by the pool. I can only recommend and we will be back next summer in this little paradise❤️

Wonderful place. For horse lovers and pilgrims. For pilgrims especially, a nice meal is served. With a smile! Beautifull rooms in style.

Marchanta is a horse farm on the Camino route and well suited for walkers who want to break up the long walk into Santarem. We had a large apartment in a converted barn with a bedroom and bathroom on a mezzanine. There's a well equipped kitchen and a dining and seating areas with a pellet fuelled log burner. The apartment was tidy, clean and slightly quirky. There were nice gardens and an outdoor pool although this wasn't in use. There was a helpful receptionist/manager who explained the bar and restaurant weren't open either (we visited in March 2025) and offered a 'pilgrim's menu' of frozen food for 12 euro including a drink. They had soup and duck rice and we thought we would get both of these which would represent good value but it was actually soup or duck rice. The portions weren't big so we went to bed hungry. Breakfast was served in a breakfast box costing 25 euros for the two of us. We thought this was expensive and opted not to have this. Food options in Porto De Muge are very limited so Marchanta has a 'captive audience'. When we got up the next morning, we found there was no hot water for our showers! The receptionist wasn't available until later so we put up with cold showers before our long walk to Santarem. We contacted the receptionist to make sure she was aware of the water problem. This really shouldn't happen and she offered us compensation should we visit again. Although it's a nice place we don't think it offers good value as it stands.
