Marina Hotel

Beautiful hotel in the Starnbergersee. A couple hiccups where I was not fully aware of the charge I would get for asking for late check out so our infant son could get his normal nap time. But that was probably my fault for not being a better German speaker. Other than that the staff was very friendly with small gestures that made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was some of the best I’ve ever had in a hotel. The room was cozy and very Bavarian. Encapsulated “gemütlichkeit” on our visit!

We visited the restaurant for lunch and didn't stay at the hotel. The salmon with saffron risotto was good, the Wiener schnitzel was perfectly cooked and the beef roast was good though a bit dry. Overall a good experience with a great view of the lake.

before getting to the downsides, I must truly stress that the hotel's location is fantastic with only a lawn separating the property from the lake and even on that lawn, you can sit in the hotel's chairs and soak in the sun. the breakfast was really good and their terrace is beautiful. furthermore, the rooms and facilities appear very clean. however, the staff we encountered at the reception both during the check-in and the check-out process were quite unpleasant and not friendly at all, the rooms are very dated and do not offer any of the amenities you would expect for the steep price tag, and the large hotel complex consisting of a whole bunch of single buildings scattered about was not only confusing, but also made for a very impersonal and uncomfortable experience. mostly, what was very frustrating were the very outdated rooms and the unfriendly staff.
