The hotel is very centrally located, downtown near the shopping area, the famous galleries, restaurants, etc… The service is not something i was comfortable with. I had particularly requested if i could make phone calls to local numbers feee of cost from the room. The receptionist assured me it was possible. Later when they presented me with an invoice for well over 100€ for a few short phone calls I was taken away. They admitted having a language barrier. I refused to pay as i did the necessary checking prior to making some calls. They would not hold my luggage because i had an “outstanding” invoice I enjoyed the room- it was very comfortable. Very well equipped with slippers. All the essentials for the bathroom and comfortable mattresses. There was no fridge which was a surprise as i never seen that in a restaurant with this category.
I made it very clear before booking that working air-conditioning was non-negotiable. I asked multiple times, and each time I was reassured: “Yes, the AC works 100%.” That was a lie. I arrived in the middle of July, during the peak of summer, and the air-conditioning didn’t work at all. Not even slightly. The room was hot, stuffy, and completely uncomfortable. I barely slept. My entire night was ruined. This isn’t some minor issue — in this kind of heat, it’s essential. Being dishonest about something this basic is unacceptable. You don’t tell a guest the AC works just to secure a booking, then leave them sweating through the night. I will absolutely never stay here again, and I would strongly advise others to stay away unless you enjoy being lied to and sweating through your sleep.
This is a terrible hotel and racist hotel. I had a terrible experience here, i was welcomed by very rude staffs upon checking in. I complained to the manager the next day and she spoke well, I never knew she was part of the disrespectful policy, till my checking out day. I was accused of not making payment upon checking in. How come? How would I be handed over the room key to if no payment was made. I stood my ground, demanded to see the manager again. I thought she would use her managerial position and qualifications gotten in management to handle the matter. Instead she doubled down, lending credence to her rude staff, opened her mouth wide as an unlearned and unprofessional fellow to call an international guest and mother a scoundrel for standing her ground that she did make payment upon checking in. This is totally unprofessional and humiliating, I have filed a complaint with the Belgian tourism board already. And I'll be taking legal actions against her unless she makes an apology. Asides that, it is unsettling that the whole hotel smell terribly, bad services with terrible stench, a waste of resources and time. I went through reviews now and it is appalling to see same comments from different people about the rude services and unhealthy environment. This will not continue please, you can't be endangering people's health and still be racist hotel. Legal actions will be taken with proofs. If you are African, kindly avoid this hotel.
