I stayed here for one night on a business trip. The hotel and room were clean. Overall, it was a busy but quiet hotel. All the staff were attentive and friendly. I'd especially like to thank Mr. Sezaican for all of his help. The location is fantastic, very close to the tube and train stations. It's also within walking distance of attractions like Big Ben, the London Eye, and Westminster Bridge. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. I definitely recommend going there.
We booked a deluxe room for a family of 4. The room was neat and a bit small,we stayed for only one night so it was fine. The bathroom was OK, but the toilet wasn't cleaned thoroughly. Check-in was fast and the lounge was nice. Location was good, close to Waterloo Station and other touristy places. I liked that it had a kitchenette which would be ideal for long-staying guests as it had everything. There was no complimentary water but as we were not in the hotel for most part of our stay didn't bother asking for any. I would stay here again as I found the hotel to be ideal.
I booked this hotel through booking.com and very specifically filtered for hotels including parking, as we were driving into London. My sister is a nervous traveler and came with me on my trip on the condition that we could drive and booked somewhere with parking. The Marlin Waterloo does NOT have parking, they are aware that booking.com advertises them as a parking hotel, and don’t do anything about it. When I expressed my frustration at this at check in we were met with an extremely nonchalant check in agent who basically said “oh well, that sucks”. My sister had a panic attack in response to the situation, we ended up paying significantly more than we anticipated, we wasted a lot of time having to go back and forth to renew the parking tickets, suffered anxiety about the safety of our car, and it really negatively impacted our trip. I paid almost double than other hotels with way better proximity to central London because I thought we’d at least have the parking we required. To top it off, the hotel is not very nice at all. The breakfast is extremely average, the rooms are as basic as it gets, the shower drain was clogged and Everytime we showered the water overflowed. Other reviews praise this place for its location, but even that is nothing special - tons of other better priced hotels much better positioned in London. 100% would never go back, would never recommend to anybody I know. Edited to add: in another review (to which I’m unable to edit or respond) the Marlin have responded saying that booking.com clearly state that parking is explicitly offsite - my screenshots suggest otherwise. This is not mentioned via filters, nor important information, nor in the property highlights. It’s downright misleading and false advertising
