Staying at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown was truly an unforgettable experience. Located directly across from the stunning harbor, the hotel offers breathtaking views that made every morning feel like a postcard. Whether I was enjoying my coffee from the room’s balcony or taking a walk by the waterfront, the scenery was absolutely mesmerizing. The hotel itself is elegant and modern, with top-notch service and comfortable rooms that made me feel completely relaxed throughout my stay. The location is unbeatable. Nestled in the heart of a vibrant and upscale neighborhood, the area is alive with energy day and night. From high-end restaurants and boutique shops to live music and cultural attractions, there is always something happening just steps from the hotel. At night, the harbor lights reflect beautifully on the water, creating a romantic and lively atmosphere. It was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Long Beach. I especially loved how convenient it was to walk to the beach, the marina, and the nearby entertainment areas. This hotel is not only ideal for tourists seeking a luxurious vacation but also perfect for couples, families, or anyone who wants to enjoy the best of what Long Beach has to offer. My stay at the Marriott Long Beach Downtown exceeded all expectations, and I would gladly return for another visit. It is the definition of comfort, luxury, and coastal charm.
We read the reviews prior to booking, noting the multiple complaints about the resort fees not being appropriately credited. We called the hotel on 2 separate occasions to verify our rate included the resort fees, so we wouldn't have any surprises, and were assured they were. California law requires all fees be disclosed upfront (Honest Pricing). We received a card at the front desk at check in with instructions on how to use the benefits of the resort credit ($15 daily food credit, swan boat and bike rentals, and yoga). We ate at the Local Current specifically to utilize those credits. The restaurant was good (the chocolate cake was excellent) but pricey, and not something we would have chosen without those credits. We also rented the swan boats once, which was very easy to do. The food credits were not applied to our bill at checkout and we were told "your rate didn't qualify". We contacted the hotel multiple times after our stay and were told they would "look into it and get back to us". They never did. Emailing the hotel, the assistant front desk manager offered 2,000 points, which is worth roughly $10. We asked for the issue to be escalated and never recieved another response. The hotel is nice and location is very convenient to the convention center. Most of the staff we dealt with during our stay were pleasant, until we had an issue. This could have been a 4-5 star review without a fight over 4 nights of food credits ($60)
I wish I could give this hotel 5 stars, but unfortunately their pricing after checkout just really didn’t add up. The price when I initially booked vs the receipt I received vs the SECOND receipt I received vs the charge on my card were all completely different numbers. Not only that, but in multiple locations on the app, it mentions free parking during your stay which is simply not true - it’s $45 a night. The room was nice, the location was perfect, but this is insane. I don’t think it’s acceptable for hotels to simply charge whatever they are feeling and add on “Destination Fees” to a hotel that is literally FOR destinations. Include it in the original price or don’t charge me for it at all. I’m currently waiting to see which charge they decide to push through on my card before I have to reach out regarding charging almost $400 more than my original reservation.
