Stayed here for a national conference. Great location close to public transit and close to attractions as well. This is a large hotel with long corridors. Rooms are comfortable and have the amenities you’d expect with a Marriott. Housekeeping was attentive, rooms are clean, and beds are comfortable. No complaints here!
The room I had was not up to par. The phone didn't work, the door wouldn't open when I first arrived (it wasn't the key card, or my phone. I got new key cards made at the front desk and it still wouldn't open. They had to call maintenance.) The refrigerator was too small, didn't have a freezer section, and wasn't cold even though it was set to the coldest setting. There's one microwave in the lobby that everyone in the hotel has to share, and it was broken more often than not. When it did work, there was a line of people across the lobby waiting for it. (Not to mention that people were heating up some strong smelling food. Normally it's not too bad, but when so many people have to share the same microwave, the mixture of smells permeated into my food which was quite unappetizing) There was a flood in the lobby outside of, and in, Starbucks when a rain storm blew through. Was there a lot of rain? Yes, but should it have flooded the lobby? No. They closed off the affected section of the lobby, and Starbucks totally, and setup dehumidifiers and fans to dry everything out. The property is right next to the convention center, and there's a secret entrance that goes from the floor below the lobby of the hotel to downstairs in the convention center, but unless your convention pays for security to be at the door, or the convention is open to the public, the door isn't open so you still have to go outside. They did a good job cleaning the room, and towels and supplies were provided quickly, and staff was as friendly as could be, but that's about all that was good about it.
Just a rundown hotel in the city with very limited service options. Honestly, they abruptly shut down the lobby bar/kitchen and every other restaurant by 10:30. Honestly, for the price, so many better places to stay that are less generic and far more consumer friendly, especially during a conference with 500+ people!
