Martin’s Château du Lac is truly a picturesque gem just a few minutes away from Brussels. Set in a stunning castle by the lake, the hotel exudes a magical medieval atmosphere while offering every modern comfort. It’s one of my favorite spots near Brussels. Mornings here feel especially enchanting, as you wake up to the extraordinary singing of birds that fills the air with peace and serenity. I have to highlight the breakfast in their beautiful restaurant — it’s delicious, varied, and served with great attention to detail. Starting the day in such a place leaves you feeling energized and inspired. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax, enjoy beautiful nature, and feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale, Martin’s Château du Lac is the perfect choice!
Lovely location by the lake and many restaurants around the area. It is situated in a quaint area with lots of nice houses and by the lake where you can take walks or just duck watching. I was just there for an event so no ratings for the rooms and service.
The hotel has a nice location and a pleasant overall appearance, but unfortunately, the service and hospitality fall far short of what you would expect from a 5-star establishment. The staff seems insufficiently trained to deliver the level of service expected at this tier. Simple gestures such as a friendly greeting at the reception or a “have a nice day” from the person by the entrance (still unsure if he was the doorman) were noticeably absent. These small details matter and were consistently missing. Room service was also disappointing. I ordered a pint of beer but received a small one instead. When I pointed this out, they took the beer away instead of simply leaving it and bringing the correct one as a gesture of goodwill. That’s not how service should be handled at this level. The fries I received were soggy and looked reheated or old, a real letdown, especially in Belgium where standards for fries are understandably high. To make things worse, no sauce was provided, and there was no indication on the menu that sauces need to be ordered separately. Again, small details, but they reflect a lack of attention that prevents a hotel from being truly memorable. Overall, this experience felt more in line with a 3 star hotel, not the 5 star standard that’s being claimed.
